Glad I found this

I am Jay Gutknecht and have smoked since 12 years old and am almost 55 now.  I have tried before and last time was last year I made it a week.  I wish I had found this program and am going through the preporation and am going to try the small steps.  When I tried before the symptoms seemed to me to get worse daily and all consuming so I may take the suggestion of seeing a doctor as well.  I'm a truck driver so some of the medications I can't use like chantrix since they now say that it will disqualify me from driving while on it.  Not sure what else is available that way.  My wife quit using chantrix.

Threw out smokes, ashtrays and lighter

Thanks Deb,  I have tried before and failed but when I found this site and went through and did everything in the glove box.  I realized preparation is key.  And alot of information in the forum here.  I have used alot of it.  Last night was tough I went to bed early.  Woke up during the night ant automatically reached for nothing lol.  Took a drink of water went back to sleep.  Same thing this morning reached for nothing took a drink now getting ready to go in for breakfast.  Deep breaths, cold water, and my new crutch candy lol.  Walking has helped when it gets bad.

Here I go again

Well just get back up slap yourself in back of head and get back to it.  You let go of my hand??  Don't let go of my hand again.  The only way you could puff is to let go.  Remember NOPE  I say that over and over again when I am thinking about it.  Deep breaths deep breaths.

Anyone have Stats on the stop smoking aids

great american smokeout has links to info like that but you probably really don't want those numbers.   I think that is where I saw them.  Most NRT's have between 7-9 percent success rate.  Actually google Alan Carr's book he has a good list of success rates.

Symptom or Craving

But how do I know if I'm experiencing a symptom or craving.  I just know I"m spaced out dizzy and been trying to sleep all day after sleeping all night trying to fight off the urge.  It got to me when I went in to eat.  I slipped but will get back on it.  I won't give up.  Would be nice if I wasn't just sitting here wondering when will I get a load.  How much longer can I stay in business.

This is tough I have alot of respect for those that have all that time on there quit meters.

Threw out smokes, ashtrays and lighter

I had a slip today so reset my meter for tomorrow as I want it to show only smoke free days.  I made it one whole day and then some.  I have been sitting at this truck stop since Sunday waiting for a load out of Laredo, TX.  Had a real hard day with it.  Went in to eat supper and just couldn't resist since I have to walk past there big wall full of them and to think I thought I was in a lull when I went in.  I'm not giving up tomorrow is another day.  Sure doesn't help that the only tv station I get good here is in spanish not much else to do here.  I'm bringing out a game I haven't played in a long time hopefully that will help keep me busy.

Not excuses a weakness I guess.  You would think I'm really a stubborn kind of person that I would be able to do this easy but man it's hard.  I hate failure.   Like I said before I sure have alot of respect for those of you that have made it.

I have read alot about Alan Carr's book wish I could get it but won't be home until the 19th of Feb. hopefully depends on how the money goes.
