I did that a couple of times just to get through a situation. Then when I took the patch off to smoke, I would get a headache and palpitations. Too much nicotine because the patch nicotine was still being delivered as I was puffing away. It's easy to be getting too much nicotine with that approach so be cautious. :)
Are you asking about whether to use the patch to quit? It's a personal decision because you know yourself best. I knew from previous quits that I could not go cold turkey. By the time the patch therapy was over, I was happy to be done with them! But they did make it a fairly easy quit and happy to finally be rid of the smokes. You are ahead in a way as you have learned to navigate your work days without cigarettes! Not bad, that's half the battle!
Oh, and FYI - I was so scared to quit that I gave myself the name Henny Penny because I was a chicken! I really thought the sky would fall down and the world would end if I quit. Surprise, I didn't. lol. Actually, life turned out much better without the smokes! Yours will too!
Good luck, come back often to post, we all want you to have success with your quit!

HP

We are all cheering for you and your husband. As Ms Reader says... all of us oldie moldies sure wish we had a quit when we were your age. You have a whole big wonderful life ahead of you so do it right... as a nonsmoker!
Keep your good attitude, do the program like Smokey Jo says and stick around here!
Great to have you and welcome!

you are almost at the end of day three!!! That's great.
I hate to say it but I'm not sure I've transitioned to think of myself as nonsmoker yet. Don't let that bum you out. Sometimes I just feel like a smoker who is not smoking. Maybe I was a smoker for so long that it will take longer to change. I do know that I do not identify with the smokers anymore. To see them all huddled outside and sucking away makes me very happy to be on the "other side" and not one of them.
Just keep doing what you are doing. It all comes with time and persistence.

I just found out that our new President is trying to quit smoking. Did you guys know that? I didn't.
Guess he didn't exactly get quit and is sneaking a smoke here and there.
I was watching all the festivities today and thinking... Could you imagine finally getting sworn in after two years of campaigning but wanting a cigarette.. with all those people around. GAAAAK
They showed him getting in his car and popping a piece of nicorette.
My mind would be mush!
I'd be on the Hotline to the CIA for witness protection program so I could just have a smoke. LOL
Well, poor guy. He is in that awful netherworld of not quite quit. I think all of us can have some sympathy.
Anybody got an extra copy of Alan Carr to send him?
