I just bumped up a post for you in the New Users Forum. It's called "A Duffis Re-post"
Someone bumped this up for me (thanks Jim) when I needed it. It very much put things in perspective as I was acting strangely. Such a relief once I found out everyone had gone through similar situations.
I too quit the caffeine to help my temper... it did help. I was less stressed. Any other bad situation, I came home and screamed into a pillow. Thankfully, it does get much better. Hang in there... you are strong!
Take care,
HP

PM I'm sorry that this posting has been here for this many hours without a response.
It's been my experience that we are all each others quit buddies! That way there is usually someone around here at all hours to help out. As you can see in the "just curious" posting... we are all scattered around the globe so when someone here in the US may be asleep, someone in the UK or Europe is perhaps just starting their day and can help out. Isn't that great?
A special quit buddy may pop up in a bit but in the meantime... keep posting here!
All the other members of your new family are here to help out!
Take care,
HP

Wow, I see that you are on day 7!!! That is really super duper!! You are through with Hell Week today!
Next week is Heck Week. That is similar to downgrading a hurricane from a catagory 5 to a category 4. LOL
Maybe a 3?
Anyway... taking a walk around the block is a GREAT idea. The slipped my mind and that is what I did when I freaked out one day. There was a veteran quitter who suggested that I disassociate myself from the situation. Worked nicely! Then I took a cold shower! That was quite a day.
Insomnia is normal too. I went through a period of waking up at 3AM ever single night! It does go away after awhile.
Hopefully, you read the "Duffis Re-post" that I bumped up for you in the New Users Forum. You are about on schedule with your quit symptoms and as you can see... it's normal.
Congratulations on your 7 days. Fantastic!

When I mentioned to a neighbor that I had quit smoking, he told me he still gets smoking thoughts - 12 years later.
Ouch!
He is a very tightly wound individual so perhaps it's just him.
After hearing that, I figured they would just always be around, those thoughts. Our price to pay for having ever picked one up in the first place. I'm glad to know it so I will be prepared many years down the line. I'm ready.
take care my friend,

To answer your question... it all gets better! Everybody is different but most everyone says that the first week and the week after are the worst then it all starts to normalize. We all have find our new "normal" without cigarettes but at least you won't feel like you do now.
I bumped up a post in the New Users Forum called "A Duffis Re-post". It's a good, humorous way to look at the first stages of quitting!
The first three days are when the nicotine is leaving your body. From now on, it's all a mental mostly! Keep up the good fight with a positive attitude which is soooooooo important!!! You will be happy you quit! Have you read the Alan Carr book.. "the easy way to quit smoking" ? It is very good to help foster a positive approach!
Keep up the good work!
