hello everyone! my official quit date it Friday 6/29/07, this time its for good! i finally realized how much im screwing up my body when i tried to run a mile and nearly fell over. i was embarrassed for two reasons:
1. i couldnt run it in 10 mins, this is coming for someone who ran a mile in about 6 mins.
2. my breathing was so heavy at the first 10 feet of running!
i refuse to torture my body anymore, and i will run a 6 minute mile again, infact im going to start running 10K's and even make an attempt at the next years mud run!
good luck to all of us, we will quit, and not think of ever smoking again!
congratulations bresmama! were all fortunate to be able to quit, obviously were stronger than the drug that drove us to it. day 3 is almost over for me, once the first week is over, it will get easier. ive quit for 8 months before, but the pressure got the best of me, and i gave in. this time is different, i know im going to quit, im going to make it thru the hardest days, and i will never want/need another cig as long as i live. best of all we wont have stinky clothes and discolored fingers!
Thank you all for the positive replies :) It is really wonderful to see such a great support group! My cravings are getting less and less, i cant wait till theyre gone for good! The breathing technique is helping me out, didnt know that such a simple exercise is so effective. Will keep everyone posted on my progress!

took me 4 times to quit finally. the last 3 times i didnt know how to deal with my stress... this time i just think of how i felt after i ran, and the craving goes away. youre heading in the right direction by going online for support, and like Osto said: something will hit in and you will wonder why youre smoking.
bj:
hang in there, 30 years is a long habit to give up... good luck and were all right there for you!
