Hey there

I had the last cigarette for the rest of my life at 8 pm last night. Today's been a bit of a roller coaster with the cravings but I've handled them well so far. It's the first time I've ever been serious about quitting and I'm so glad I found this site. Good to meet so many people who are going through it so I don't feel I'm alone in the ordeal. Thanks in advance and good to meet ya'll My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Hey there

Thanks Lainey! I did the exercise and man was it informative. I've been reading for the past week and finding out what I can do to make this a permanent decision in my life and I know now I am a non-smoker. There is no turning back, and I don't want to. But I know it's going to be rough, just being able to have support helps. Thanks a ton My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Hey there

Hey guys, Thanks for all the encouragment. You guys are great. I quit cold turkey and have not faltered. I refuse to give in to this addiction any longer. I try to convince myself that I can have one more in my weakened states and it makes me realize just how addicted I had become. I'm ill today, which I know is just psychological. The cravings are a bit harder but nothing I can't handle. Thanks again guys. So Irritable that I can't stand myself

Hi all, The last few days I've been so completely irritable. I'm normally a pretty happy go lucky person. I am sure it's some sort of nicotine withdrawal psychosis but I'm sure hoping this part ends soon, the lives of the free world are at stake LOL! In any case, not a question, more of a whine I suppose. I can already tell it's getting better though, even though I'm still contemplating ways for my boyfriends demise. I just can't tell if that's my normal disgust for him or not. LOL I'm kidding!! In any case, have a great day all! Hugs! So Irritable that I can't stand myself

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Don't know what I'd do without ya'll. Ok so a little story. We had a birthday at work today and I was sent to pick up food for the luncheon. I had called in the order the day before. I get there and spend 20 minutes in line only to be told they did not make my order. They got busy making it and about 20 more minutes go by and I'm finally loading up the car. I dropped and busted the face on my cell phone as I was putting the last bit of food in the back seat. I got in the car (borrowed from a co-worker because I car pool) and I turn out on the road which is now completely packed with lunch time attendees. This is now an hour and a half longer than the 15 minutes it should have taken me. Irritable does not describe my mood. THEN, I look down, and in the cup holder is my co-workers cigarettes. I had driven all the way to the place without even noticing them before. I said outloud..."NO!! I AM A NON-SMOKER AND THESE WILL NOT TEMPT ME!!" I took 2 long, deep breaths, and I ignored those cigarettes for the whole trip. I'm telling you this because I am so proud of myself. I got through a most stressful situation which I'm sure was heightened by my lack of nicotene, with a pack of smokes with me the whole time and I refused to let them get the best of me. But, for the very first time, I knew when I got back to the office that I CAN do this, I'm a non-smoker and I don't want to be anything else! Thanks for listening to me babble! Hello

Tankgirl You can do it!!! These people can give you the encouragement you need. I never thought I'd have made it this far but I feel with the help of these forums that I've overcome obstacles I could have never hurdled prior to meeting these folks. If you really want to quit, you are at the right place to do it! I have faith in you, now all you need is faith in yourself. With that, you can accomplish anything.
