The biggest lie ever told. . .

Red Jester, What a great story- and congratulations on your quit. We are all different here, but you've found a great site for support and advice. As silly as it sounds one of the biggest motivators in my quit at this time is that if I screw up and smoke I'd have to reset my quit meter, and I won't get to post my stats on my upcoming 50 days- and that would really stink. Whatever motivates you is the right thing to do! Keep us posted on how you're doing. Time on my hands

Tony, You're a bit ahead of me in your quit but I will share what I have done. In the early days I spent a great deal of time on this site to keep my quit strong. Now I try to use that time in short bursts to get household chores done. For example I might clean the bathroom before work (I still get up at the same time but now I don't need that extra 15 minutes to smoke), or I might read the newspaper in the middle of the week (I usually only have time to read the Sunday paper). One thing I am struggling with now is during big projects (cleaning the whole house, mulching the landscaping, etc.). I used to take breaks from these type of projects to smoke, but now I'm not sure how to handle it. It feels weird to take a break and not smoke so I end up working for long spurts and then getting burned out on the project. Perhaps you have some suggestions? Congratulations on 53 days!!!!!!!!! Sorry about the huge space in my post, my elbow hit the scroll button (thought I fixed it but guess I didn't) I guess it's kinda like an awkward silence in a conversation. It feels like a marathon and my endurance is being tested!

Changing, I think your analogy of being in a marathon is a good one. My quit can relate to a marathon in many ways- I did lots of preparation before race day, when the race started I was so excited I couldn't stand it, but right now I feel like I'm just hanging out pounding the pavement at mile 13 or so. The excitment of the starting gun is gone and I'm WAY to far off from the finish line to have my second wind kick in. I do, however, thank God that every mile or so I find a water station chuck full of wonderful SSC members cheering me on to victory. We're all in this toghether and this is a race we will all finish! :)Dupe My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 33 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 507 Amount Saved: $105.6 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 1 Mins: 13 Seconds: 16
