Hell Week is over

Finished Hell week with a sinus infection. lol Hopefully it will be the last one I have. Maybe I'll start to have colds again instead, like everyone else. I'm pretty proud of myself this time around. I thought I would never be able to quit smoking. As I said before... I no longer smoke! That feels so good to say! I was so ashamed of my smoking... it did not fit my overall self at all. What got me through? Prayers and this website. Thank you all. A Message For New Quitters

I really like your post, Duffis. I knew I could no longer smoke and still fulfill my purpose in life. What you said makes perfect sense to me. Thanks for sharing! I love your name! Cutting back

Yes, we have all known what could happen to us if we keep smoking, but I think until we stop denying that it's going to be us, and tell ourselves the truth about what is happening to us each day we continue to smoke, we'll continue to smoke. The longer I go without smoking, the more I've discovered the exact triggers that made me want to smoke. I've always been in a hurry, even when I didn't have anywhere to be. It's a mindset... hurry, hurry, hurry. I find if I force my mind to slow down, focus on one thing, and stop hurrying so much, I don't want to smoke as badly. I think many times I smoked to try to slow down my mind, and in reality, I think it made me in more of a hurry! Does that make any sense at all? ha! One week coming up for me in about an hour and a half. So proud!! 1/6 checkin

Hey Deb, Good for you on hangin' in there! I thought a cig sounded good earlier today. It's the first time I let myself wonder how it would taste. EEWWW! Then I remembered how much better my lungs feel, and had a piece of hard candy. We are getting close to Hell week being over! What is your reward going to be? I think I'll schedule a massage next week. Be sure to do something nice for yourself! Congrats!! Day 4 - I NO LONGER SMOKE

Congrats to you too, Liv! Of all things, I have a sinus infection... fever of about 101 when the tylenol wears off. Went to the doctor this morning, and proudly told him... I quit smoking!!! Sure felt good. Another interesting thought I had... (that's scary), when we want to smoke why don't we compare it to banging our head on concrete, or slapping ourselves, or well... having a mammogram... that's all punishment... why would we think that hurting ourselves is pleasurable. BTW... the cig icons have backed off. I just ignore them. THey aren't big and mean... they are just wimps anyway, so I've decided Nicodemon isn't really as mean as he thinks. He's just a bully. Put him into the proper perspective.
