cannot stop deep breathing

i am having the strangest reactions to none smoking. all of a sudden my body breaths deeply all the way to my back and to the pit of my stomach . it happens on a daily basis sometimes just a few times a day sometimes lots. its as though my body is emulating the breathing in of a cigarette . i find i have to have something to drink to stop it happening. i also get a tickle in my throat sometimes when i see on telly ex drug users , they exaggerate breathing in their nose that's what i feel is happening to me. has anyone else had this ?. My other addiction that needs dealing with

if you go to either the chemist or herbalist you can purchase a sleeping product, either tablets or powder to add to a drink ,called valerian (or a product that has valerian in it). this is a natural product and not addictive. i was sceptical at first but find they do work.i do not need them on a daily basis but when i have lost lots of sleep they are great. i hope your sleep comes back to normal ,there is nothing worse. Drinking more beer with quitting

i think everyone is been a little hard on you dunedad. the drinking thing to me is not a problem as you are aware of the situation. i also have drunk a little more as have my two friend that have also stopped smoking . nice eh.. we were addicted to cigarettes for a lot of years and i need that drink on a night as a relaxer. a drink or two of wine on an evening has not made me want a cigarette its a known fact that a small amount of alcohol is good for you . you i am sure are aware of the problems drink can cause but all out there get real and relax , dunedad is just asking an innocent question . Gaining Way too much!

i also have put on about 7 lbs but part of that was an all inclusive holiday two weeks ago, i was eating for england, bliss. i now have to loose this weight . the way i have controlled the eating prior to the hol was strong mint flavoured chewing gum or very hot cough sweets ,as these burn the mouth the same sensation as the ciggaretts. eat celery that helps also. ok so we have gained a little weight, luckily its winter and we are covered up. dont lets pressure ourselves , relax and plan to eat healthily , don't do without my god we have done so well. make a little deal with ourselves eat a better diet , loads of veg , fruit and salads , but have a little chocolate if we want it ,its good for you anyway and we've earned it . Question for long-timers

i am a few days before the 6 months period. my name is tina and i am 48 years old. i have been asked recently if i have had collagen injections as i have no wrinkles can you believe it !. my skin was always in not bad condition but now in the last month i have also noticed the difference. i no longer look tired and drawn and my skin used to look a little greyish , now im glowing and in fact radiant. the inside i cannot see thank god , i know my breathing was better in the first three days but i can tell i have been a smoker as the tightness is still around. every day is an effort but i am determined never to stink again . if the outside can look and feel better in such a short time then my inside is also improving at the same rate. what idiots we have been look around you , notice the people who smoke (ugly or what)thats You and Me or it was . you know what it does to you , you know you feel better , you have the answers. its just easier to give in isnt it ? 1 year yesterday

one year today i stopped smoking i cannot believe i have gone this far. I was a smoker for 32 years on 20 a day and needed to help myself and i did. i still have to take it day by day as its still difficult. i used patched for the first month and from then on cold turkey. i am so proud of myself but i have to keep positive the nicodeman still comes around from time to time. i have only put half a stone on as well , as i have taken care not to substitute food for the cigarette's . I will get rid of the extra pounds when i'm ready. i do not want to join the brigade of smokers outside the pubs , clubs and office blocks etc ,its embarrassing and undignified. i have cried through frustration ,gotten angry ,walked a lot just to calm down. i am a woman of 48 years but look a tad younger . After three months of none smoking my skin looked fantastic , someone i know well took me to one side and asked me if I'd had collagen injections in my face as she had noticed a difference (not the only person to notice as it turned out) great eh girls. i dont have to change my cloth's as often and i smell a lot sweeter. i wish i had never started smoking in the first place and i would not have had to go through this horrid feeling of withdrawl. Come on you lot out there , keep it up....thinking of you all.... cheers.......tina..... day 44 - i really want to slip...

Hello elaine my name is tina. i understand your craving needs as do all smokers and quitters. i am over a year into my quit and i could pick one up now , why don't i ?. The reason is it would change nothing to my advantage it would alter absolutely nothing. cigarettes played a massive part of my life as it does in every smokers life and at every opportunity and excuse it was time to light a cigarette. i have gone through all the situations possible without that prop in the last year and I CAN . i no longer stink (was not aware that i did until i smell others that do ),i have money in my pocket ,i look better and not so drawn,i do not have the phlegm'y cough ,i can laugh without loosing my breath, i can walk longer without the puffing and shortness of breath, i can go on but there's no point because in the end we all know this already. lots of my friends have tried to stop and failed because its easier to give in. One day at a time ,don't look too far ahead no matter what you will crack this. Had we not started smoking in the first place this terrible addiction would not be with us. Be proud of yourself . Did you ever think you would get this far ?. Without realising it another week will have passed and you did that because you wanted to. Of course the feelings will get better with time ,but just take it one hour at a time and so on ,be very proud of yourself and don't take the easy root out before you know it you will be advising others how to move on. Be strong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
