Almost 5 weeks (33 days today) and 25 lbs DOWN!

STILL a skinnier *Quitter*! Just got a chance to *sneak* in on my sister's computer (shhh!) while babysitting her great grandkids while she works! I'm still working on that GREAT reward once I get moved back to FL...getting my BIRTH ID back *legally*! I also made another layaway payment on my new computer desk! Only have 2 more payments to go and it will BE mine! Been having a few *tougher* urges the past few days...but, I'm challenging them and WINNING the battles! Like I've said...as long as I don't HAVE the smokes, it's easy to distract my attention to something else...and, I go to the store now, and don't even think about buying any! Well...take care ALL! Stay STRONG! I'll check by when I can! I AM a *skinnier* NON smoker...AT LAST! Bad Craving

The craving you are talking about...are the ONES that have ALWAYS *broke* my quit in years past! And, the worst is YET to come!! Next week, you will be thinking like I did..."I THOUGHT the longer I go with NO cigarette, the EASIER it gets...NOT!". But, it DOES get easier after the *end* of the second week...I MADE it through it THIS time, and it is what MADE me a *quitter* this time! I had prayed so very hard for God's help through it THIS time, because I KNEW without HIM...I would NEVER win! Well...I kept praying through the HARDER times, and His *help* was *fixing it* so I had NO choice...I was FLAT broke, my sister was broke, and I know NO one else to ask to *borrow* the money for smokes, so...I AM a NON smoker...AT LAST! I have always said that IF they would quit SELLING cigarettes...I COULD quit (because I'm too *chicken* to get them ILlegally, LOL)! Well...GOD put me in a position that I had NO other choice, and I am SOOO happy that he did! I still have those *fleeting* urges...but, I can divert my focus on something else...like my birds, and the urges are *just* fleeting, as pass easily & quickly! NOT meaning to *preach*...but PRAYER DOES WORK! I AM a NON smoker...AT LAST!!! Today..I'm a 28 days/ 4 week quitter!

I feel GREAT! And, I am *saving up* for my GREATEST reward, when I get moved back to my *hometown* in FL! When I was almost 3 years old, I was taken from my bio family, and adopted out! I was totally stripped of my birth given identity, and to make a LONG story short I will just say that the next 14 years of my life were HELL at the hands of my adopted mother! I found my bio family when I was 16 years old...and I have for near 40 years wanted my birth ID BACK...but, there was too many *hurdles* in the way! But, NOW...there is NOTHING to hold me back except $$$...but, once I get the move over with, and can gather the funds, I AM going to go back to court and HAVE my original birth certificate REinstated...and I will *LEGALLY* BE who I was *born* TO be! It will be a *DREAM* come TRUE! :) I AM a *skinnier* NON smoker...AT LAST! ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/4/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 28 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 854 Amount Saved: $196 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 17 Mins: 24 Seconds: 45

Another week (almost), and 5 more pounds LESS!

The number ONE secret is the SAME secret that comes with being a *Quitter*...Self discipline & DETERMINATION!!! The *secret* to the *diet* is really NO diet...it is simply *chinese*...or better said as Oriental Cuisine! I got to thinking one day (when my sister & I were at a Chinese Buffet) how many *overweight* Orientals do you see? I'm sure there are a few, but so *rare* for the *normal* race of people. Then, I got to looking at the Buffet menu, and of the true *Oriental* Cuisine...it is made up of *mostly* vegetables, rice, and just a limited quantity of meat thrown into the recipe. So, it's no wonder they are so thin...there is very little *FAT* to their Cuisine! THAT is when I decided to try ther way of eating...what did I have to lose but POUNDS, LOL! I've also gone from a NON breakfast eater & night time binge eater...to a light breakfast eater and a night time snacker of grapefruit & PLAIN yogurt (GREAT enzyme combo to help dilute & flush FAT out of your body)! Also, Plain popcorn is GREAT roughage for scrubbing the fat cells and flushing it out of your body, too! Even though I am NOT a *breakfast* person...I make myself eat a light breakfast of Dannon 'Activia' yogurt (good for the problem stomach), one slice of Whole wheat toast, STRAIGHT, BLACK coffee (as much coffee as I want to drink) and an 8oz glass of V8 *LOW SODIUM* veggie juice! For lunch I fix myself a small 'Chef' Salad (with tomatoes, cucumber, chopped egg, & shredded cheese ONLY) with Lemon juice dressing and UNsweet Iced Tea with Lemon (as much tea as I like). For Dinner/Supper I buy the Lean Cuisine frozen Oriental dinners for the most part, but also try different brands to see which I like best (try to keep the calories under 300 calories for eat frozen dinner, then I add some extra veggies, or a salad to make the dinner complete! For the *sweet* tooth...I buy a few of the Slimfast drinks & bars, and I either eat a bar or a can of drink. I eat a LOT of veggies & fruits in between if I get the munchies! I eat enough to keep my tummy & mind content and the hungries away! When I *treat* myself to a dinner out...I eat at the Chinese Buffet...I splurge a little, and *cheat* a little when I go to the Buffet, but I figure once or twice a month isn't going to hurt

Another week (almost), and 5 more pounds LESS!

Monday will be my 4th week/28th day as a NON smoker...AT LAST! AND it will be 20 pounds total weight loss, too! I weighed 210 pounds when I started my quit 4 weeks ago, and I am now down to 180 pounds! I haven't weighed LESS that 200 pounds in over 15 years! IF I can continue to lose 20 pounds a month...I should be down to my *ideal* weight by Christmas! If anyone wants my *secret*...just let me know! But, just like with your smoking *quit*...you have to have self discipline and TRULY want to lose (or at least maintain) your ideal weight! I AM a *SKINNIER* NON smoker...AT LAST! ;p Betty2 My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/4/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 26 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 798 Amount Saved: $182 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 11 Mins: 30 Seconds: 32

THREE WEEKS smoke FREE!

Well...I'm a quitter! I have NEVER liked using that phrase, because *as a rule* I am NOT a quitter...it took me 28 YEARS to get this far, so I CAN'T be a *QUITTER*!! But, I AM a NON-smoker...AT LAST! After my two days stint in the hospital (still haven't gotten results back yet (have an appt Oct 10 for them)...but I have noticed that my Blood sugar levels are coming down, and are *almost* hitting *normal* range both AM & PM! I have changed my eating habits...and I am actually *slowly* losing weight, too! I've lost 15 LBS in 3 weeks! I am saving up my *rewards* for when I get moved back to FL! Then, I will start treating myself with the money I have saved on cigarettes AND for the weight loss!! I'm feeling a bit better than I was before I went to the hospital...so hopefully it was just a *breakthrough* bout from my quit! I'll be checking in from time to time...but, I'm really busy getting things sorted through, and packed for the move! That's another lifestyle change I'm making too...getting rid of the *pack rat* side of me, too! Good Luck to ALL *Quitters*! Back HOME from the Hospital!

Boy what 2 days in the hospital will do to you...I *wanted* a smoke SOOOOOO BAD! But, I got over it quick! I think my Doctor put me through every test there was...or so it seemed! Colonoscopy, Upper GI, COPD/Respiratory, Ultra sound, CT scan, MRI, blood work, and more tests that I don't know what they were called, or remember what they were for...LOL! I haven't gotten all the results back yet...will be about 2 weeks for most of them, but I did find out that I have some serious issues with side effects from my diabetes and my feet & legs that I didn't realize were AS serious as they are! I have MULTI tumors in my feet, and the Doctor said it is a wonder that I can even stand on my feet, much less take steps at all!! My Reflux disease is worse than I thought, and it appears that PART of the problem comes from my Diabetes oral meds! My doctor says we will have to work on that after all the results come back...so as not to make things worse. Anyway...I am ordered to bed rest for the next 2 weeks until I go back to see the Doctor for the results! So, I will be scarce for the 2 weeks, but I will sneak in every couple days just to see what's going on! I had a funny experience on my way home from the hospital today! I stop by the convenient store where I always bought my cigarettes...the little guy behind the counter always had 2 packs of my cigarettes waiting when I was ready to check out! Today, I bought 4 boxes of 'Lemonhead' lemon drops, a citrus soda, and a bag of Cherry slices for my great great niece & nephews (an 'as ALWAYS' tradition). When I got to the counter...there sat my cigarettes! I picked them up, and handed them back...then picked up the Lemonheads and said "These are cheaper, last longer, taste better, and are HEALTIER! I QUIT smoking almost a month ago!" The little guy behind the counter handed me my bag and said, "I'm proud of YOU! This is on the house today as your reward"! I felt SO proud, and happy that it was worth losing $3 to the clerk! I AM a NON smoker...AT LAST! Talk to you all again, soon! My *just* reward!!!

Thanks all...and kypalak, just be sure to take LOTS of gum and sipping straws to chew on! That is what is helping me right now...and I am chewing the *devil* out of it right now! My hardest time is when I'm on the computer, because that is when I always smoked the most! I always *reached* without thinking, and smoked without knowing I even smoked one! So, when I am on my computer (a trigger)...I keep a straw in my mouth! Idon't find myself wanting the smoke...just something in my mouth! I'm fighting a trigger, but, I figure I have to stand up to it, if I want to get over it! Good luck at the reunion! My prayers & thoughts will be with you! I AM a NON smoker...AT LAST! My *just* reward!!!

Tomorrow will be a 14 days/2 week quit! I figure my average $ saved will be about $97! SOOO, K-mart has the computer desk I have been wanting for a LONG time on Sale for $99 ($50 savings)...and I am going this afternoon to put it on layaway! It's a corner desk with shelves & cabinets on top, drawers & shelves on bottom! Everything will be close at hand with this desk! I will be moving back to FL in December, and the desk will be FOR the new home...*SMOKE FREE* home! I figure the money I saved on cigarettes, is money better spent on my desk! It's one of those *build it yourself* deals...but, it will make a nice desk once put together...and it will LOOK nice in my new apartment! I really feel SOOO Good that I've been able to jump that hardest hurdle of my quit THIS time...the one that has always broken me down on other attempts! I am just SOOO PROUD of ME! I know I have a LONG way to go yet...but, I am confident now that I will make it! I also passed the *ultimate* test yesterday, when my son & DIL came up for a visit (BOTH smoke), and it didn't even bother me (except the *smell* made me SICK even from 10'away =:-@ ), but I was able to handle it! So, I feel like I have really *earned* this reward! I AM a NON smoker...AT LAST! Congrats & Good luck to ALL *QUITTERS*!
