My daughter decided to quit too!!!!!

This is my check in for this morning. I am feeling really pretty good and GUESS WHAT-MY DAUGHTER HAS DECIDED TO QUIT TOO!!!! It's really kind of a funny thing because the reason she wants to quit is funny. When I quit, I told her that I wouldn't buy her cigs anymore, (she is not quite 18) and she had her grandmother buy her some. (she has a job so she could pay for them). Well, my mother bought her a carton of Kools, which are menthol and harsher than what we normally would buy. So she is not feeling well and the menthol is making her cough. I am certainly not going to tell her that she would be fine if she went back to our non menthol light brand!!! So she is going to quit when she runs out. She smokes very little at this point so she may not have much trouble, but i told her if she does, I will gladly pay for some patches for her too. I am so happy that soon there will not be any cigs in my house. That is going to make it soooooo much easier for me! Today is my doctors appointment and I am going to ask for Zyban too. I'll let you know how it goes tonight. How is everyone doing? BOOOOOOM, BOOOOOOM

Sheie and Mr Ed, Go to your rooms and cool off!!! None of that matters at all to us "newbies"... All that matters to us is that you guys, "the elders" will still be there when we need you when those "things" hit! All we need to know is that you will understand and empathize with us. The only reason it scares me when people say you don't have craves after two or three weeks is that I have quit for that long before and I still did, so you feel that there maybe something wrong with you and you might not be physically able to quit. It is comforting to me to know that other people also experiance "it". Ed, you said that you only know a couple of people here that fell after and extended time, but in talking to smokers at work and out in the "real world" there are many many many. Almost everyone I talked to says they quit for a year and went back. So what does that tell you? There is something (crave, memory, craziness whatever) and this site is helpfull with it. That is what us newbies want to know, and I imagine, that is what you both need also. Us newbies are also here for you when you have "it." Maybe we should just call it a "thing". If you are having that, just post on the site "I am having a thing". Love to both of you, Mama My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 147 Amount Saved: $17.1 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 9 Mins: 24 Seconds: 23

Patch users

Yes Ed, it certainly did. Thank you cyberduke. I just came back to work from the doctor and she gave me the wellbutrin prescription and said that if I feel I need to stay on the patches longer, I can. I worry about my heart and the damage the nicotine is doing, that is why I am quitting smoking anyways. Heart problem run in my family right alongside the smoking and I am at the age that the problems seem to start. I really have to vent that I just hate these doctors! This lady has no understanding about the quitting process at all. It's kind of like, well why don't you just not smoke? I was trying to explain to her all the chemical changes taking place and she was just soooo skeptical. I have a lot going on too because I have lost a lot of weight, and I am perimenopausal also. It's so hard to pin them down to discuss anything in any depth. This is the third doctor I have seen in this clinic. But I did get my perscription and I have to really watch my blood pressure closely. I still feel much more comfortable with the patch. I am just really worried about losing my quit when I am going to step down or get off of them. Picking Up the Pieces

Phillip, As a "newbie" I have to tell you that reading your thread of difficulty has done everything but scare me. I saw such love in that thread and it made me want to get to 100+ days just to experience that. It showed me that there will ALWAYS be people here for me... not just untill I'm "supposed" to be better. I feel that there are some people that are just more addicted than others and it is such and individual thing. I know from my experience this weekend that I am very very addicted. It's going to take a long fight to get over it. I'm also experiencing a lot of hopelessness and despiration. Please don't take a break, I need you! I want to see you get through this so that I will know that I can too! Having a bad time at work

I don't have that but I do have the sensation of hurrying so I can smoke (like when I went to church, I was wanting to get out of there, I think because I am used to that so I can smoke) I think it will go away after a while of not smoking. Also, I had a dream that I found a pack of cigs in the VCR. I was fighting with the nicodemon even in my dream in think what am I going to do. I woke up before I decided what I was going to do.
