June-bugs Roll Call

Still Smoke free and DONE WITH THE DENTIST!! It was rough and still is but I have a few days off now to rest. He says that I have a lot more that I need but we don't have to deal with it untill something hurts. Anyways, that is the last thing I want to deal with. It was kind of hard to go through the dentist stuff and not smoke but I did it. Smoking would not have made it any easier. All my obsessing about it was probly the worse part of everything. I think that I might have a hard time with all the time off I'm going to be having now. (I'm not going back till July 10th. a previously scheduled vacation) But at least my daughter doesn't have any cigs in the house!!! She is on day 6 cold turkey!!! I will still be checking in every day, we aren't really doing anything but resting for vacation. I plan on doing a lot of work around the house which I may or may not actually do. I know I am getting my carpets cleaned. But I will be checking in a little later everyday. I'm so proud of the June-bugs! We are doing soooo well. Everybody check in and say what method you are using to quit. It will help us get to know each other better. I am using wellbutrin and patches. NO SUPPORT FROM HUBBY and CRAVING BAD RIGHT NOW!!

Ann, I think that you nned to be nice to yourself. I had the same problem. I was still having cravings long after people on this site and in the Allan Carr book says that they should be gone. I am still having a lot of craving. You might remember that I quit on june 1st and had to reset my meter because of a slip. I am still having pretty bad cravings. But we have to build up endurance and have faith that there will come a day that they will leave us. Have faith in the people here that say it gets better. Also, I am finding that it changes very quickly. One min. it might be really bad but soon I'll be wondering what was I thinking? So if I don't like the way it is right now, I just wait a while and it will change. Anyways, don't put expectations on yourself like "I will stop craving in two days" or whatever. Let it happen the way it was meant to happen for you. You are not alone because even with wellbutrin and patches, I still crave, they just take the edge off. I FORGOT MY PATCH

I guess you could just see how you do and if it gets too bad, just beg off sick and go home and get it. Don't let it get so bad that you will go and buy cigs instead I guess. What does everyone think? Sence of Smell

Hey, this is kind of funny. I have a sence of smell for the first time in 30 years! Thing is, I don't know what any smell is because I havn't smelled anything in so long! I smell lots of stuff, especially driving around in Houston, What is it? I don't know. I don't even know if a smell is supposed to be good or bad. Last night my son was heating up a snack in the microwave and I could smell it so strong I yelled "what are you doing, what is that smell?" and he said it was fried chicken. That is supposed to smell good isn't it? I have smelled a lot of things, but I am yet to recognize any smell and be able tell what it is. Day 5 - fearing the weekend

I also have a hard time with the weekends, and I will definatly be checking in to the site, so I will be here for you. If you have a "thing" (crave or whatever), post and be patient, read other peoples posts and stuff and I will see your post and respond. Let's be smoke free for the weekend. Sence of Smell

Niks, I feel much better on the patches! My doctor gave me the presciption for Wellbutrin and I started it this morning. They should be in full effect by the time I have to step down on the patches. I do think that I am going to make it this time! My daughter still has some cigs left and I accidentally walked in on her smoking last night! She only smokes a little of each one because they are too harsh and menthol for her. Then she leaves the rest in an ashtray either in her room or outside on our patio. I've yelled at her time and time again about it but she just won't listen. She says that she is going to quit when she is out but it may take a real long time. She bought this carton on June 1st and she still has 3 packs left. Anyways, when I am on the patch, those unsmoked cigs don't scream my name anymore but they do still wisper. I have to ignore them from afar. I am feeling much better although my sence of pride is not as good knowing that I am still using nicotine in my body. I wish I could go cold turkey but I just don't think I am cut out for that. Or like the doc said, there are alot of chemical changes happening to me all at once. (perimenopause, losing a lot of weight and quiting smoking all at the same time). Anyways, thank you so much for asking niks, that makes me feel so special that you remembered!
