niks,
Is it absolutly nessisary to drink? I don't drink but I understand form other people on the site that that presents extra challages.
I have a vacation this week and I am under a lot of stress, so I don't know how it is going to go for me either. I am going to try to spend a lot of time in places where you can't smoke. I.E. my health club, the library, ect. and try to get outside some. I have to lean on my kids to help me.
Maybe think about either not drinking or limiting your alcohol consumption, so you can keep your guard up better. You need to protect your quit right now because it is so new.
Love,
Mama

I sleep with the patches on and really enjoy the vivid dreams, I remember them too, but I never have been an nightmare type person. If you are prone to nightmares I'll bet the vivid dreams would suck. Anyways, I like to keep them on all the 24 hours and I even shower and swim and they never fall off or anything. I couldn't sleep when I was cold turkey so this is better.

Mama

moz1959,
I would tell you to do the work you find on this site, and stay in touch here. Maybe you and your husband could do it together and both of you register. There are a lot of couples here that quit together. There is no easy way unfortunatly, and you should be prepared for battle. Read everything on this site and read peoples past post. We will be here for you and the wonderfull thing is, you can also be there for other people. It really makes it hard to smoke when you are on here telling other people not to.
So anyways, I hope to see you here!
Love,
Mama

BF,
I'm sorry, I think you got them from me! I lost 4 pounds! I have been working out really hard because of the stress from my stupid dentist appointment. Have you been reading my posts about that? I made it through but it was very rough. So I guess I have been kind of working out compulively to try and make it through that. I don't think about it while I'm working out and for some reason, the stupid tooth didn't hurt when I was working out. So anyways, I think that is why I lost. Also because my tooth hurt so I wasn't eating very much.
I would say maybe you could go to the dentist but I wouldn't wish that on anybody.
Love,
Mama

Sure it is Zany and welcome to the June-bugs! We will be here for you. I'm sorry you had so much trouble but you might have learned some triggers and be able to figure out where the rock you stubbled on was so you can avoid it this time. I also had a slip and let me tell you this is about my millionth time of "trying" but this time I am doing more than "trying" I am "doing"! At least that is 7 months less damage you have from smoke.
Love,
Mama

Hey, I had to go through hell week and heck week two times! It is totally bad, plus, I would have 29 days now if I hadn't blown it. Scary isn't it. But whenever I get bad like that, I remember that in a little while everything will change.
I had time destortion really bad too. Listening to music seemed to help and just avoid looking at the clock, maybe even put a piece of masking tape over the clock in the car!
The car was maybe the worse thing for me too especially in the morning on the way to work. Now I have driven to work without smoking maybe 20 times and it has gotten easier. I always have a bottle of cold water with me in a sport bottle. Those seem to help me. find something that helps you and use it.
Don't worry, it will change soon.
Love,
Mama

Mater,
I can't do gum because I have bad teeth. So last time i quit smoking, I tryed the lozenges and I liked those too, a little too much. I don't think I would ever be able to give those up. So this time, i am doing patches and useing sugar free hard candy for mouth stuff, although I still have to carefull and not do too much because that will also hurt my teeth and the sugar substitute in them can give you gas really bad.
Anyways, I find the patches just take the edge off the cravings. You still have to deal with them as they come. I am doing wellbutrin because I am a little concerned about when I need to step down on the patches. I want to be ready.
Everyone is different, maybe you could buy the smallest box of patches (21mg they have a box that just has 7) and try it. I started out cold turkey and changed my mind to the patches. You always have the freedom to change your mind!
Love,
Mama

Boy am I relieved that I quit before that second hand smoke report came out. It still made me feel very quilty for putting my kids through all that but at least I can say, "I'm not doing that anymore". It brought up a lot of feelings for me. One of which is extream gratefullness that we all are ok. I am so gratefull and I know that it is by the grace of god that none of us have any horrible consequences and we can quit now and in a few short years, be healthy like we never smoked. I have my teeth problems, but that seems to be about it. I know that is the protection of God.
Also, both my parents smoked and I had a brother that died of crib death before I was born. I can't imagine how my mother feels about the report, but we havnt' talked about it. I am having to really avoid spending much time with her because she is still smoking. It's hard for me to be in her house. I'm not sure we would talk about it anyways, avoidance is one of the ways my family deals with things. Maybe even if she heard the reports (i don't know how she could not hear it, it's all over the television) she will pretend she didn't.
anyways, I thank God that I am quit, and that my daughter is quit. i thank god that all my kids are ok and I am ok. I ask god to help me and be with me while I am getting used to my smoke free life.
Thank you guys too for all your friendship and for reading my ramblings!
Love,
Mama

I'm so proud of you for handling stress without smoking! I did it too, Mr Ed! I had to go to the dentist yesterday and have a nasty extraction, and I did think a lot about smoking ever sence I found out I had to go but I just kept thinking"what good would smoking do" it still would have to come out. and I got through it. So here I am, sore jaw and all and not smoking but it is over.
It seems like everytime we go through these situations without smoking, it will bring it home to us that smoking wouldn't help.
What's it gonna do, smoke that rat out? I don't think so. (Although it is a PESTISIDE!!!)
Love,
Mama
