New Ideas PLEASE!!!!!!

Hi Melaine, I know stepping on Diabetic ground is scarey. However, I have for over 3 years searched for a Pediatric Nutritionist. They do not exist. At least, not that I have found. I have a zillion books, and have seen every website. There is no different info out there. Especially for a 7 year old. My Nutritionist orginally put her on a 2000-cal diet plan!!!! Of course I didnt follow it. 2000 calories??? Geesh, my diet shouldnt be 2000 calories..... let alone a 7 yr old. Trying to come up with playful, new ideas for her is tough enough. I seem to give up. It is sooo hard to find ideas with her that will interest her, and that she will eat. I was just looking for any ideas that are more kid friendly. Most of the recipes that I come across are just to "fancy". My kids wont eat most of them. There just doesnt seem any help out there for me. Gosh, I am so positive about my quit, but so negative about this. So "hopeless" about this. I see no light at the end of this tunnel. Too Much

Hi Milaya, I sure hope is going better than yesterday! And I sure hope you have put your slip aside and moved forward in your quit. Stressful events will always be there. We cannot control life. But we can control our choice on how to deal with it. I was telling my hubby this last night. I said, "I hate it when you say this quit is easy for me and not for you. It is not easy for me. I, however, choose to deal with it differently than you. I will not dwell on it. It is not poor me, I cannot have a smoke. It is HOORAY I am living. I choose to make this quit a happy one. If I wallow in my misery of wanting one, then the addiction will never cease. It will always have the upper hand on me. Of course I want one. I will always want one. The memory I have of smoking is AAAHHHH - good. But that is where it stays. A memory. Now I will create new memories. Ones that do not include a cig. I am moving forward in my new life, and embracing every new moment. Just like a newborn. Every moment they grow. They are not the same tomorrow. Nor can they go back to yesterday. That is my life now. I love it!!" Make a promise to yourself that you will find a different way to handle stress. Find a new way to release.......... Coping with the Cravedigger

Hi Eve!! Thank you for your post. It is always good to get new ideas! For me, I personally, take the Demon head on. My mind works differently. When I have a crave, if I were to put a straw or licorice in my mouth and pretend to smoke, I will never get over the feeling of having to put something in my mouth. My hands go for that as well. Although, typing is a wonderful replacement!! Anyhow, this approach is not for everyone. It is for me. I feel like I have to get over the hand-mouth addiction as well, so pretending to smoke will just prolong it. Keep up the great work! I really enjoy reading your posts!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 43 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,304 Amount Saved: $140.61 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 11 Mins: 59 Seconds: 21

Smoking Weight Gain

I personally think quitting smoking is harder. With dieting, at least you can still have food. In moderation, you can have sweets. But, quitting smoking, you cannot still have one. No moderation there. Just my thoughts. ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 43 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,304 Amount Saved: $140.61 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 11 Mins: 58 Seconds: 2

help

Welcome! You are a cancer survivor! I have watched many of people smoke thru cancer. It is sad. You can do it! In the beginning, I associated everything with having a cig in my hands! Everything I did, I had one of them! I too lived by the saying "I'll do it in a minute! I'm finishing my smoke!" How horrible is that? To put my kids lives on hold so that I could finish my smoke??!! To not see some expirement they made, or something they built, or something they are sooo proud of -- I put it on the back burner becuz I am smoking, and I need to finish!!!!! Read a lot of posts here. It really helps. Most people find the need to replace a cig for something else. You can do it. It is a habit that is very hard to overcome, but definately do-able!!! Get in the mind frame that this is your choice. You choose not to smoke. You choose life. You choose not to let your boys watch you kill yourself a little everyday. You choose not to have them see you take your last struggling breath. Gather all info you can about smoking. Make a plan. Make it a choice, and it your new life. Go one minute at a time. That time will add up! Keep us posted! And yell out to us when you need to! The Demon got me but only for a minute...

Hello Krazy, That would be do difficult if I had to live with a smoker. Luckily for me, we quit together. Just think of how strong you will become. You can beat this. There are many quitters who live with smokers. I'm not sure how they got through it, but I sure do put them on a pedastal!!! Take care and stay focused. You can do it this time. Remember what I said last time about your hubby leaving his cigs around. Make sure they are gone!!!!! You can do this!!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 43 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,303 Amount Saved: $140.61 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 11 Mins: 52 Seconds: 17
