My 4TH DAY Quit!!

Hello Everyone, Well, came down with a flu-like cold and while on the mend, I decided that it was time for me to quit. So, I am owning my Quit, I am committed to my Quit, and I am looking for all the support I can get (and give:-) I am blessed to work from home, so I am planning to be kind and gentle w/myself daily, moment to moment, day to day, as I go through my process. And I am grateful for this site and for the love and support I have found here in the posts... This is my 4th Day to be *smoke-free and I am so proud of myself. It has not been as hard as I thought it would be so far, and since I've not been feeling that well w/such a bad cold, I think I may have made it much easier on myself, as I have been busy tending to me, to my health, rather than lighting up! I am feeling better each day, and as I get over this terrible cold, I can feel how easy it would be to have a 'slip' and find an excuse to light up... Nope, not going there! Anyway, thank you all for being here - I look forward to giving and getting lots of support:) Love and Blessings- My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 133 Amount Saved: $7.2 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 11 Mins: 49 Seconds: 50

My 4TH DAY Quit!!

Hi Angelic (such a lovely name) Am not using the patch, but I am aware that it's there (that info is my toolkit for later if I need to call on it). I actually used the patch some time ago on a 'practice quit' and it raised my already high blood pressure so high the doc had a fit... Well, am proud to say my blood pressure is back to normal, so I can use the patch if need be... Congratulations to you on completing your 5th day quit!

help me stop smoking

Hi Ed, Well I am fairly new here too. Today is my 7th day of my Quit - I have not had a smoke since 7 days ago. And I quit cold turkey (had a bad, bad cold/flu thing, and just decided I would get better and stop smoking at the same time)... It's not been easy thats for sure, but Ed, I knew it was time for me to Quit (I was smoking almost 2 packs a day). And I just did it. I spent alot of time here reading and reading, and I just did it. I just said N.O.P.E. (not one puff ever ((again)) like I read here. I have spent a lot of time here reading the posts and I introduced myself and get into this site like it was my saving grace, and ya know what? It has been. Ed, just read and post and post and read. And post and read some more. If it had not been for this site and the posts and info here, I know I would not have been able to keep and protect my Quit like I have. Just read and read, and if you are really ready to Quit, you will find the support you need here. My computer decided to go out today and one of the first things I thought was wtf! I need a damn cig to deal with this! Well, I didn't and I am up again (new laptop here) and ya know what? I am committed to my Quit and I own it, and I'm not going backwards for nothin'. And you can do this too. If you're ready, we're ready with you, dear one. Blessings and looking forward to hearing from you, Ed. And I am on day 25, so it works, I just made up my mind (and I protect my Quit with my life!) So you can do this. Just make up your mind, dear one, period. Nothing I read or learned prepared me for the first day....

Hi Adam, Quitting - it's a hell of a journey, my friend. Ups and downs, crying and yelling - being mad as hell, picking a fight with a salesperson, and so it goes. You are hanging in there. Read, write in a journal, call a friend, yell, run, walk around the block, watch a TV show, go to the mall, play in the grass, take a hot, soothing bath, hug your wife, do something special for yourself, plant some flowers, wash the car, paint a wall, and get that anger and frustration out, sleep, do whatever you have to do just DON'T SMOKE. It's hell, its hard, its crazy... It's our Quit journey, and you can do this. Take one moment at a time. Stay in the moment. Use your stubborness, use it like you've never used it in your life. This is a fight for your life. It really is. I also quit cold turkey. And when I have moments that I think about smoking, I say to myself, out loud most of the time, "If I still smoked, I would have a cigarette right now" - but, I don't smoke anymore. I don't want an oxygen tank with me later in life. I don't want to be fighting to breathe, I don't want to stink anymore. I don't want my house and car stinking. I love the freedom I have now. And ya know what? There are many times when I feel this incredible natural high... It's strange, it's interesting, it's like a taste of the most powerful and amazing freedom, and when I'm feeling that natural high, I ride it like a wave... I am in the Pacific - riding that wave like there's no tomorrow... Adam, you can do this. Hang on to yourself with EVERYTHING YOU HAVE and protect your Quit with your life, dear one. Your Quit is young, it needs protection. Hold it close, don't let it get away from you. You have made it this far, stay in the moment- don't get ahead of yourself. What you are missing here is YOU ARE DOING IT!! Blessings - breathe, breathe, breathe- Healer My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 26 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 913 Amount Saved: $62.4 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 9 Mins: 18 Seconds: 21
