Are smoking friends really on our side???

Same as Lady, My Mother said the exact same things. Browneyesblue, it pays to remember that smokers are basically terified of us.....they can't comprehend life after smoking ! I've ditched my smoking friends.... i got sick of them trying to push thier so called 'habit'& guess what... they are now non-smokers to. ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 425 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,639 Amount Saved: $2762.5 Life Gained: Days: 60 Hrs: 23 Mins: 21 Seconds: 1

3rd times a charm?

I'll tell you what - the 3rd time for me is definately the easiest. What i failed to realise the first 2 times is that smoking is not a habit, it's an adddiction to nicotine or living a life of chemical dependancy if you will. Arm yourself with all the goodies you need to kick smoking in the but, you will know when you are ready. I failed. I just can't do it right now.

Firstly i wanted to say.....you know all about this addiction thing right ? why would you want to put yourself through it again... but seriously - i wouldn't go beating yourself up over it. i spose the positive side to this.... you will able to learn from your slipping. When you are ready to quit again (cos you will) arm yourself with more ammo, teach yourself, that smoking is a plain and simple addition to a drug called Nicotine. You will then be able to quit, but only when you want to, it's all about you. And He Coughs Part II

If he can't find it go out & buy him another "Allen Carr book" it really works..... don't make a big fuss over it you'll scare him off quitting. just ask him if he's reading it every now & then. ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 426 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,667 Amount Saved: $2769 Life Gained: Days: 61 Hrs: 3 Mins: 19 Seconds: 0

Quitting - Fate or just plain spooky ?

Fate... look at the signals ? or just plain weird. The previous owners of my last vehicle where chain smokers so along with my contribution over the years the inside always had the 'stench' of stale cigarette smoke, couldn't get rid of it no matter what ! It finally got the better of me, so i finally go & reward myself & upgrade to another vehicle, the strange thing is (& i only just realised it one month on) it has no ashtrays in it ! the cigarette lighter thingymajig is missing also, go figure... thats just plain spooky. i love this site, I gotta keep coming back for more to remind me how crap smoking was cos whatta ya now - there is life after smoking. :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 426 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,665 Amount Saved: $2769 Life Gained: Days: 61 Hrs: 2 Mins: 55 Seconds: 46

Sooooo Frustrated!!! Why Now!!!

Wow !! welcome to substance abuse 101 .......Nicotine Addiction. These thoughts will consume you.. try to devour your spirit.. whatever you do don't give in. Fight, fight, fight & very very soon you will wonder what all the fuss was about. If you destroy people along the way, who cares - they'll get over it, it's all about you. I Blew It....

You can slip up as much as you like, but be very hard on yourself cos - when all's said & done, the bottom line is ..... You must want to quit.. only then will you succeed. H, we can all light up if we want to, the only reason we don't is because we don't want to ! :8o: My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 425 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,648 Amount Saved: $2762.5 Life Gained: Days: 61 Hrs: 0 Mins: 36 Seconds: 45

Hello Everyone

Elle, where is your quit meter ? I tried twice, once cold turkey & then NRT (gum). I lasted about 3 weeks on the NRT gum. This time is different... likemost others here, i 'swatted' up & understand what i'm fighting. The good thing about Cold turkey is that you get over the nicotine withdrawl in 3 days. this leaves 3 weeks of emotional journey & the of the time learning to adjust to a non-smoking lifestyle. ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 425 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,649 Amount Saved: $2762.5 Life Gained: Days: 61 Hrs: 0 Mins: 46 Seconds: 20
