TIME DOES FLY

It seems like it was just yesterday that I joined the SSC and began my journey on the road to freedom. Now here it is 400 days down the road and no nicotine. A lot of people just starting out on this same road may wonder if this can really be done and I have to tell you YES it can be done with ease once you make up your mind to do so. Hope you all have a great smoke free week. Duffis duffis's Quit Stats Since Sunday, February 13, 2005, I've been smoke-free for: 1 Year(s), 35 Days, 5 Hours, 58 Minutes, 37 Seconds. RACING GOES NON SMOKING

Forgot to tell ya all but I had lunch this past week with Johnnie Kline who is Petty Racings Fabrication/Body Shop Manager. The entire corporation is under strong recommendation to give up smoking. This is after a management report that it is costing an annual amount of $9,863.50 per each smoking employee. This includes smoke breaks, cost of health insurance, lost time and smoke related illness. This year Nicorette Gum is one of Kyle Pettys sponsors on the 45 Cup car. They came into the shop and are conducting stop smoking clinics and providing free products to aid in the process. Johnny has been smoking all his adult life and quitting is going to be a ***** even with NRT on hand. Race shop environment and deadlines are beyond stressful. Each car sponsorship runs about $15,000.000.000. bare bones and the cars have to be right and in the race. You will see more and more racing TV ads promoting NON-SMOKING this year and it is about time. At least NASCAR is taking a leadership role in this area. With the demise of R.J. Reynolds as the major sponsor giving way to NEXTEL/SPRINT and now with the drug companies coming in, even to promote NRT, it is none the less progress. This Saturday the Busch Race at Atlanta is being sponsored by Nicorette Gum. NO JUSTICE

First off I wish to sincerely thank all of you for your kindness and posts. Secondly you have to understand that both myself and friend are ok with death, it is a big part of life. When we came up life expectancy was only 50-55 years at best. Look how far we have come in medical technology and the extention of life. They put a tatoo on my friends chest to mark the spot where they are going to radiate the hell out of him; no chemo for awhile anyway. The think that really bothers me is if he contaminates the rest of the moonshine with radiation I'm goin be pi**ed off. It was a given death sentence for this type of lung cancer but now the Drs feel that they have a 40% chance with Chemo and Radiation to give him a few more years. I would not do it myself but my friend is going to give it a try. I will keep you posted. Thank you again Duffis
