My confession

~huggs~ you cannot change the past, you can only learn from it. I've learned not to sip my coffee when I first pour it. I've learned not to walk on wet floors. I've learned not to get drunk. I've learned not to touch pots on the stove. I've learned not to carry too much going down steps. But... I have learned to smile at strangers. I have learned to treat myself to Starbucks coffee. I have learned to shave my legs with lather. I have learned to brush and floss my teeth. I have learned to breathe deeply. Some of these things I learned by getting hurt. some of these things I learned by having the reward. Find what works for you...learn from your mistakes and learn from your rewards. We CAN do this! ~lbugg~ PS....The meter is a tool to help you. Only you know if you get more encouragement if you don't 'lose' your days, or if you get more inspiration from the 'loss' of them. Use the tool however it helps you reach your goal of being smoke-free! My confession

cincere, I forgot the most important part! Please do see your doctor about the depression. We can self-medicate with nicotine. If you were already on meds before quitting, they will most likely need to be adjusted...especially during the first year. You are very right in saying that it's hard have a positive outlook when depressed. Part of having clinical depression is feeling like things are hopeless. And if we feel things are hopeless, why try them? The good news is...we don't have to feel hopeless! ~huggs~

Thanks to all of YOU, for all of your strenght

Congrats on getting through your first week, Riverdaleman! I have to agree with you on this site! It was my rock for quite some time. It's not the experienced quitters that make the site, it's not the 'newbies', and it's not the moderators. It's the combo of having someone going through it with you, someone who went through it before you, and someone quiding you through it. The sharing of sorrows along with the hope for the future! So keep strong, keep close, and keep smoke-free! We CAN do this! Weaning off of Gum/Lozenge

hi CemS, According to the lozenge direstions, there is no step down to 2mg. You use the 4mg if you used to light up within 30 min of waking and the 2mg if you waited more than 30 min. The way you wean off the lozenges (just like with the gum) is to use less of them each day. When you get the lozenges, please read over the direction carefully as they give much more detail than I just did. Keep it going... Talking it out to try to make sense of it all...

dear butterflyS, smoking will not make you friends (smoking buddies maybe, but not friends) I think what you're doing here is letting the junkie in you have a bit too much to say. you don't have many friends because you made the CHOICE to go back to school, you've made the CHOICE to spend time on your studies and you made the CHOICE to be active in this support group. girl, you are tired from the stress of studying for finals and tired from the stress of quitting smoking. Do me a favor, okay? Don't change any of your choices right now, oky? I do believe spring break is coming up? Take some time for you, to reward yourself for making it so far in your quit....to reward yourself for getting back to school. friends happen when we're ready to accept them into our lives. stay strong, my friend, and be patient.
