Quitting soon

Thanks for the reply Tim

I haven't set a quit date yet. I am cutting back. I am currently to a half pack. I used to smoke a pack or more a day.

Thank is really impressive that you are 8 years quit. Was it your first time trying to quit? I have attempted quitting multiple times. I am worried this will be another failed attempt but I am trying to stay positive. The fact that I am not drinking will be a big help I think.

Well, I am going to take your advice and read through the group here. Thanks for responding. It means a lot to me.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Managing urges to drink while quitting smoking

Thank you for replying Foxman.

I haven't looked into taking anything. I will look into Chantix. I was using the ecig last time but I don't think that helped at all. It made me was smokes more haha.

I have some emotional support from my friends and gf but it is hard as they still all drink. I will consider looking into more support

Thanks again!

Quitting soon

Thanks Tim

Sorry for not replying in a long time. I have been going through a hard time at work and everyone has been drinking around me now that people are vaccinated. I haven't been drinking alcohol. That is one positive.but I have been smoking more. Some days more then I normally do. I was doing so good cutting back but I am learning I used alcohol to cope with stress and I use smoking to cope with stress. It also like to keep me busy while I'm social situations. I have been feeling really down about it but my gf keeps reminding me how good I am doing by not drinking. I am so lucky to have her.

I still haven't set my quit date. I am not sure when I will.

Your post was really helpful tim. I think I might be scared to fail as well. I am scared I am going to start drinking again if I quit smoking. I really need to work in my head space more I think. Posting here is helpful. It helps to just write things out sometimes.

I will try to at least smoke less today...

How to rebound

So I made it one full week without smoking... then I caved. I just couldn't handle the cravings. I really thought I could do it this time... I don't know why I find this so much harder then quitting alcohol. Has anyone had a ton of failed attempts and then go on to have a successful quit?

I could really use the motivation.

Alcohol and smoking

I have been alcohol free for months now. I am really proud of myself. I am now a non-drinker! I am trying to quit smoking now and it is just so hard. For some reason I find it harder to quit smoking..I don't know why. I must have had at least 10 failed quit attempts for smoking. Has anyone here successfully quit drinking and smoking? Or attempted to quit both? I could really use some support on this.

Depression

Hi

Has anyone felt depressed while quitting smoking? I had been cutting back for a month and then quit completely for about a week, then I had a slip. I was feeling very depressed during this time. I really feel like quitting smoking caused the depression. Is that normal? Has anyone else experienced this?

Quit this morning 10/14/21

Oh...this is motivating me to quit. I have been having on and off "quits" for months. I really need to find a way to make it stick.

Maybe I will quit next week...

We will save so much money if we can do this. Plus I am pretty sick of being a smoker. I just wish I wasn't so dependent on the damn things!

How to rebound

Thanks everyone.

Both your messages helped me get out of my hopeless pity party.

Timbo I really like your idea of having some sort of hand to mouth distraction. I think that will help me. In the past I would be either drinking or smoking...like a constant pacifier. I think.ice cubes or something might help. I have been chewing gum and that sometimes helps but I need more options. If I could just get through the cravings of the first month...

I do feel proud of my one week. I am.also extremely proud I am a non drinker now. I feel like a different person. I can only imagine how great i will feel when I don't constantly stink of smokes too.

I will report back. Thanks again. Sorry for formatting issues. I am at work on my mobile.

Depression

Thanks a lot timbo.

I think you are right. It was like a shift to.my identity when I quit drinking. It was a tough transition. I have to remember that. It is like losing a friend. A freaking shitty friend! Ha

Ima check out the depression group too..thanks!
