New Member & 1 Month-versary!

Hey all, just found this website when I was doing research on some of the withdrawal symptoms that I've been experiencing and it's wonderful!  As of today, I have stopped smoking for 1 month after roughly 12 years of smoking consistently (started freshman year of college).

Realized that a support group could be benefical as no one around me currently really smokes anymore nor would understand what I'm going through.

Well anyhow, nice to meet everyone and I look forward to reviewing posts and future discussions!

Introduction

Hey all! Just posted in the 'who's quit' forum so this is kind of redundant but might as well embrace the site! Started smoking freshman year of college and have been smoking pretty consistently for the last 12 years. Occasionally would quit for a month or 2 (longest stretch was 5 months) over the last 12 years but have finally decided that I want to be done.  Before I didn't want to be done or was too concerned about 'gaining weight' that I didn't even consider the holistic health concerns that smoking contributed in my life. (smelly clothes, smelly car, costs of packs, oral hygiene, etc.)  Also I had been a consistent runner up until 6 years ago when I noticed that stopped (still went to the gym) and my smoking increased dramatically.  Especially when I was out having drinks with friends. I quit on August 7, 2012 and have been free for 1 month.

Again, I do not preach or judge my friends that are still smoking as those that quit before me didn't judge me but have supported me.  The method I followed was pretty much cold turkey although on August 5th and 6th I did try the e-cigarette before just throwing it away to quit completely on 8/7 as it was too heavy for my hand and I just didn't like it.  I had thought it would be a good way to 'wean' off cigarettes but just decided to stop.  I had my car detailed /cleaned so I would be in a nice clean car and have joined a running club.  As of today I have logged 49.04 miles on the road jogging since my quit date and signed up for my first 1/2 marathon in November.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone!
