this has to be something more than just not smoking.

You know, I don't think that any of this has anything to do with smoking and I probly would be in this place, smoking or not. This is certainly not where I envisioned myself to be at 47. The not smoking probly has just brought it all to the surface and is forcing me to deal with things . I am just a wreck and maybe I always will be. On monday, I guess I will call my insurance company and find a couseler. Mama failed. Smoked. Start over

I guess I failed and I smoked tonight. I am going to start again now but I am going to use patches. I also decided to tell my daughter that if she will quit with me and get rid of all the cigs in the house i will help pay for her to drive. I know she will do it then, this is a discussion that we have already had. i need the cigs out of the house completely. I can't quit with them here. I had patches here all along and I have some lozenges too and it probly would have been a better choice to go that way but it is not the choice I made. It's too late now, the nicotine is already back in my body, so I am going to bed and I will put a patch on. I am feeling very discouraged because I have also tryed the patches before too. I do want to be a non smoker, but maybe not bad enough. I'm not really sure if I should just give up and go buy some cigs or not. I had 16 days, and not all of it was totally horrible. But I also havn't had a lot of the feeling of pride or feeling physically better like a lot of people. I'm not sure what to do. I reset my meter, and I'm going to get up and put on a patch right away, maybe even when my snooze goes off to give it time to work before I actually get up. At least I have gotten used to not smoking when I get up so maybe that will help. I understand if you all give up on me. Maybe I should give up on myself too. Mama is here

All I can say is that I am here, and I havn't smoked since I got up. I have not smoked and I put the patch on first thing this morning like I said I would. I am going one minuit at a time. I still hear the cigs in my daughters room calling me (she spent the night out, which was one of my problems, too easy of access without anyone knowing) but maybe because of the patch, they aren't calling quite so loudly. Maybe i can do this with the patch, and I think I will go to the doctor this week and see if I can get an antidepressant for a while or something.I don't know what to think about all this yet. I just know I don't want to end up like my mom with COPD. I am going to go to church with my son today, and that will be kind of different. Then I need to go work out. That is one thing, you see, last week, my son was at summer camp, and I didn't work out much. I didn't keep up the attitude I guess. I cheated on my diet and then I think everything just went to hell in a handbasket as they say. Thank you, Lady for caring at all even when I don't feel like I care anymore. A new day for Mama

Well, I made it today without smoking and I tell you what, my youngest son had the idea of trying out a new church this morning and it was the best idea he ever had. I feel sooooo much better. This church has a very active and large singles group that was pretty much all women my age! and just getting some positive word and worship was sooo good for me! Also after church we went out to lunch and then I hung out with some of my new friends for a couple of hours and so I was around non smokers all day and away from home. With the patches, the cigs in the others room have a much quieter voice. Anyways, about the slip. I think that I still gained some things from those 16 days and they are not wasted effort. I have learned some good coping skills and I have a little more experience dealing. I think it was a bad idea for me to go cold turkey. I am just beginning to get more confidence that I might make it after all. Thank you for all your post and answers and thoughts. Flatulence (gas)

I think I figured out what it was for me. I think I am not the only one doing a lot of sugarless candys and gum. Well, the artificial sweetners in those things causes gas and digestive problems, but mostly BIG TIME GAS. So I cut down on that stuff and it went away.
