Flatulence (gas)

17 years ago 0 457 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I think mama hit the nail right on the head. I have a really mean nasty (I don't know what to call him... my mom's husband) and he gave me 4 peices of sugarless candy one time while we were taking a very long car ride, and I suffered through tummy ache, bloated, and diareah the entire time. I'd make sure not to take anything sugarless, or "reduced fat", and drink a lot of water. Gas-X or Imodium as neaded. I wanted to start a new thread on this because I didn't see any real solutions to last post on this topic. I don't know if I am lucky or what but on my first quit day, I started taking a body cleanse systems purchase at WalMart. It contained fiber tables, mild laxitive and herbs. I am 4 weeks today and have not had any problems related to flatulence or constipation. I purchase the product because of it claims to a complete body cleanse and going cold turkey I wanted to get all the filth from smoking out of body as soon as possible, including any nicotine in my blood stream. I also drank lots of juice during my first few days to help purify my system. It is just a though to try if you are experiencing any problems. I read that flatulence or can be cause by food not being properly broken down in your stomach, it goes to the intestines undigested and that is where the discomfort starts. I hope this works for some of you, I know it worked for me. Navigator. ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/16/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 28 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 566 Amount Saved: $100.8 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 16 Mins: 27 Seconds: 38

I think I figured out what it was for me. I think I am not the only one doing a lot of sugarless candys and gum. Well, the artificial sweetners in those things causes gas and digestive problems, but mostly BIG TIME GAS. So I cut down on that stuff and it went away. Navigator, Thank you for sharing this with us. Cutting down on foods that naturally produce gas is also a good idea. Danielle ____________________________ The SSC Support Team

Hi navigator. I think you make a very good point in your post... and I think this product is worth looking into. You said a couple things that I would like to add my own extra 2 cents to. You said >>>flatulence or can be cause by food not being properly broken down in your stomach, it goes to the intestines undigested and that is where the discomfort starts.<< And this is true. Another reason for food not being properly broken down before entering the intestines is due to not chewing food properly or sufficiently before swollowing. This also adds to swollowing excessive air with our foods... Also carbonated drinks adds to this as we just don't burp up all the air. Some people have pockets in their bowels system where particals are trapped which also causes toxins that cause gas. Although I have not done this, a few of my friends have for different reasons. They all say that there over all health seems greatly improved. I think that as an X smoker... well all of us as X smokers, to some degree or another, are also more aware now of our over-all health. Replacing bad health habits with good ones... Thinking of our health now as whole... Some us have done really well and have climbed over the biggest obstical and maybe can start to look at a bigger picture. Now that I have been smoke free for a few months, maybe it's time to start working on some other good things. Time to start looking for better quality things.... now that I have a few extra $'s My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/21/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 58 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 876 Amount Saved: $289.42 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 15 Mins: 22 Seconds: 34
