I'm Ready

RKM - I think that you will find that many, many, many of us use stop smoking aids here...from patches to Wellbutrin, Effexor, hypnosis, laser treatment...nicotine gum...if it is out there then someone here has tried it. Cold Turkey is great if you can do it - but WHATEVER works for you to stop smoking is what we here are for! Me, I used the Wellbutrin - my doctor was more than willing for me to use any means I could use not to smoke and I'm sure that yours would as well. You can get many nicotine aids at the drug store without a prescription. Check it out. There is nothing wrong with using help! Once again welcome and I look forward to hearing from you. I'm so tired?

Hi Circuit - I just saw on another thread that you are using patches - are you taking them off to sleep? I did not use the patch but I know from reading around here that they interrupt your sleep pattern. Maybe it's time not to use them at night. I'm so tired?

Hi circuit - Maybe a couple of good nights sleep will help. I am not a big proponant of sleep aids but I found it necessary around the 30 day mark to take a Tylenol PM before going to bed for a couple of nights - just to revive my system. My biggest side effect of not smoking was not sleeping - and I am a girl who likes her sleep! It does get better - but I was so tired for about the first 1 1/2 months. Hope you get a rejuvanated sleep tonight. Reset Start Date

Willpower - The better prepared you are the stronger you will be in defeating the nicotine demon! So, if you haven't already do the Quit Program Workbook to the left, use the tools and help on the site, drink lots of water, have aids handy (i.e., sugarless hard candy, cut-up straws or Twizzlers) and stay close to the support group to help you through the difficult times and most importantly yell for help instead of smoking. If you can come here and yell and wait for at least 5 minutes before you give in to the crave then I know that you will change your and not smoke! Know that everyone here is proud of you for quitting! OWN THAT QUIT!! I am new

Hi Baja Kate - The best thing that you can do for your quit is to be prepared. So...start on the Quit Program Notebook on the left under the Tools, remember to drink plenty of water, get some sugarless hard candy to put in your mouth, if necessary cut up some straws and suck in air through them or get some Twizzlers - that worked for me. It is important for your husband's health - but most of all it is important for YOUR health. You will add many more days to your life if you quit now. There are many people on this site that have smoked for many, many years and we are all in the same boat - We want to quit more than we want to smoke. I am proud of you for wanting that same thing. Stay close to the site and post when you need help. If you post instead of giving in to a craving I know you can do this! hi everyone

Emerald_ming - Unfortunely I too am going to echo the sentiments of the folks here. I am over 70 days and there are still some days I am so mad that I just want to, to, to...oh I just don't know what I'd like to do - it's too scary to think about! LOL - and then I just pick myself back up and get back on track - I know that it's just that nicotine demon wanting me to be mean so everyone in my family will run to the jiffy to buy me a pack. Like Cyberduke says - take some deep breaths, take a walk - take a timeout. Eventually it has to go away.
