I'm the new guy and I'm happy this place exists. I've quit for awhile now but the cravings still come. sometimes really easy and sometimes I'm ready to rip the face off the first person who says good morning to me. How long does this last for??

Hi Emerald, I am at day 60 today and I can tell you that those cravings are sometimes as strong as in the first three days, maybe even stronger because I quit with Wellbutrin and first couple of weeks were not that bad. But now is the different story. What helps me is that when craving hits, I tell myself that if it will not go away in the next hour, I will have a cigarette. But those cravings do not last even 10 minutes for me, so I remain smoke free. Emerald_ming - Unfortunely I too am going to echo the sentiments of the folks here. I am over 70 days and there are still some days I am so mad that I just want to, to, to...oh I just don't know what I'd like to do - it's too scary to think about! LOL - and then I just pick myself back up and get back on track - I know that it's just that nicotine demon wanting me to be mean so everyone in my family will run to the jiffy to buy me a pack. Like Cyberduke says - take some deep breaths, take a walk - take a timeout. Eventually it has to go away. C'MERE - LET ME RIP YOUR FACE OFF!!!!!! Oh sorry - I meant Good Morning. :-) For me those feelings have come and gone. I'm over 60 days quit now and yesterday morning I woke up ready to take on all comers. My wife said good morning and I just wanted to blame her for everything bad that's ever happened since the asteroid killed the dinosaurs. It took me about a half hour to get over myself, another half hout of apology and grovelling time and the day was back on track. I guess it's different for everyone, but the thing to remember is that it passes. Don't smoke, that puts you back to square one, just take a deep breath and get through it. Oh - remember the apology end of it too! Nasty habit these cigarettes huh?
