Hi
I am new to the group. I stopped smoking January 30th 2006. I have been off the patch and zyban for 5 days. I am 47 years old and I smoked for 34 years. This was my first attempt at stopping. My motivation for stopping was a health scare. I am waiting for the results of lung biopsy.
Today I am having a total melt down. For the first time since my quit day I am actually almost in tears. I am missing my best friend MUCH today.
I started to bum a smoke today but looked for support for this melt down and found this site/ group.
I am Already Chilling Thanks!!!
Peace
Kare in Florida

Dear Rusty, morningglory,Lady,Casey,Phillip, Katy, Hyriel1 and Lana
Thank you thank you thank you! Day 39 is no doubt the best day that has happeend to me since I started my journey to become free of nicotine! Thank goodness I found your sweet souls! I almost smoked over crying! Its like I needed permission for my melt down.
Cigarettes have definitly been a crutch for me.......instead of crying or loosing control of my emotions.........smoke. Stupid Stupid Stupid.
Peace

Way to go Zeda!
I agree with everyone else, throw that pack of smokes you have away!!
I am positive if I had a pack close by I would have lit up. More then several times I almost fell off the wagon. I grabbed my keys and headed for my car, but before I started the car to run to the store, I'd take the deep breaths.....recited one of my mantras.....smoking is bad, quitting is good. Those couple of minutes saved me for sure.
Stay Strong
Kare

Dear Love
Congratulations!
For me the first morning without a cigarette was the first morning of the rest of my life.
And nothing will ever be the same again.
I just found out yesterday with help from this group.........
That I shouldn't mourn that fact, but REJOICE it!!
These first few days will be very difficult.
For me what helped was deep breaths........and reciting one of my "mantras" smoking is bad, quitting is good. Also, I used lots and lots of water, candy and good food for the first few days.
Christine is right on with her reply to you!
WTG Love!
Peace

Hey Guys and Dolls
I wanted to thank everyone who came to my pity party yesterday!
I am so happy and lucky I found you guys yesterday. Without you, I would have fallen off the wagon for sure.
I had been to dozens of sites about smoking (and not smoking) but yesterday for the first time I put the word SUPPORT in my google search..........and there you were............SSC. wooohooo.
Support was a major thing I was lacking in this venture.
I wish I googled stop smoking SUPPORT from the get go!
Thanks MUCH
Kare

Dear Rob
Yes I can relate to this!! Definitely an ache (feeling) but to me it is really the EVIL voice in me!
Its saying.........you know you WANT me!
I felt it (the ache), I heard it (the voice), many times.
For me the ache went away around day 30 when I was finally brave enough to say, think and FEEL.......I DON'T NEED YOU AND I DON'T WANT YOU!
Shortly there after, I was able to give up the patch.
Hang in there!

Dear Ed
You have come to the right place for support for your desire to stop smoking.
I faced health/lung/breathing issues myself and that is when I stopped smoking.
I won't say quit for your son, because you have to quit for yourself.
I can say, your son could be a motivation to stop smoking.
I have witnessed first hand COPD and emphysema in my family and it is a long slow death. It was hard to watch.
A motivation might be....I do not want to be a burden on my family and If I don't stop smoking I might be.
I just found this website a few days ago, 3 weeks after I stopped smoking.
NO DOUBT in my mind if I had the support of this group from the get go it would have been easier for me.
And the support I get from this wonderful group/website is not only instrumental in helping me stay quit, they have actually helped me REJOICE the quit. I am HAPPY I don't smoke and I am FREE.
You can do this!

Thanks Red Rosie for the Big Welcome!
I will be proud to be an "ash kicker"
And yes, I feel lucky living in warm sunny Fort Myers.
I am actually from Delaware up north and I am thinking this quit is much easier on me living in a sunny warm place. I think it may have been harder on me if I still lived up north.
Thanks again
Kare
