Hey Guys and Dolls I wanted to thank everyone who came to my pity party yesterday! I am so happy and lucky I found you guys yesterday. Without you, I would have fallen off the wagon for sure. I had been to dozens of sites about smoking (and not smoking) but yesterday for the first time I put the word SUPPORT in my google search..........and there you were............SSC. wooohooo. Support was a major thing I was lacking in this venture. I wish I googled stop smoking SUPPORT from the get go! Dear Rusty, morningglory,Lady,Casey,Phillip, Katy, Hyriel1 and Lana Thank you thank you thank you! Day 39 is no doubt the best day that has happeend to me since I started my journey to become free of nicotine! Thank goodness I found your sweet souls! I almost smoked over crying! Its like I needed permission for my melt down. Cigarettes have definitly been a crutch for me.......instead of crying or loosing control of my emotions.........smoke. Stupid Stupid Stupid. Hi I am new to the group. I stopped smoking January 30th 2006. I have been off the patch and zyban for 5 days. I am 47 years old and I smoked for 34 years. This was my first attempt at stopping. My motivation for stopping was a health scare. I am waiting for the results of lung biopsy. Today I am having a total melt down. For the first time since my quit day I am actually almost in tears. I am missing my best friend MUCH today. I started to bum a smoke today but looked for support for this melt down and found this site/ group. I am Already Chilling Thanks!!! Hi ItsIronic, You've made it so far... please don't turn back now! I wanted to thank you for letting me know that I am not INSANE!! I've set my quit date for next Saturday, 3/18 and am getting nervous about that very same thing... giving up my best friend!! Unless you've ever smoked, you can't possibly understand that feeling. I was trying to explain it to my boyfriend the other nite (who has never smoked) and I could tell that he just didn't get it... and I don't expect him to. It's that "thing" that "crutch" that you turn to at all different times... when you're lonely, bored, depressed, stressed out, angry, happy, etc., etc... For me, I think the emotional and psychological dependence is almost worse than the physical. Just the fact that you've been able to make it as far as you have is an inspiration to me!! I'm glad that you came here for support instead of lighting up!! I'm sure I will also have my "melt down" moments and I'm glad that we've both found this place where we can celebrate our victories together and share our fears and exaspirations as well!! Please let us know the results of your medical tests and I'll be holding a good thought that you'll get good news!! Hang in there!! Hi, I hear you. You sound like I do, as if I lost my best friend. This has is my tenth day smoke free. I too am having a hard time and I am on the patch. I feel like I lost my best friend too. A best friend that wants to make me go broke, makes me smell awful, makes me an outcast from others, will make others sick if they are near me when I smoking and proably will kill me so I wont see my daughter grow up. Friends like that who needs enemies. Keep up the fight like I am. this site is a great help. the people are great. and you dont want to live with an oxygen tank as your new best friend. Good luck to you. ItsIronic.... Melt away...just don't smoke! I had to grieve the loss of my best friend too but that best friend has been killing you for the past 34 years. Quitting isn't easy but you can do it. Take some really deep breaths, drink a lot of water, kick, scream, cry, whatever it takes...just don't smoke. Everyday is one day closer to never feeling this way again. Look around the site and read some of the posts. You will see that many quitters, myself included, go through a morning of the loss of their best friend. You are not alone. Learn all you can about the smoking addiction. There is a ton of useful information here that will help you. Congratulations on your decision to take your life back and welcome to the SSC.
