Hi ItsIronic,
You've made it so far... please don't turn back now!
I wanted to thank you for letting me know that I am not INSANE!! I've set my quit date for next Saturday, 3/18 and am getting nervous about that very same thing... giving up my best friend!! Unless you've ever smoked, you can't possibly understand that feeling. I was trying to explain it to my boyfriend the other nite (who has never smoked) and I could tell that he just didn't get it... and I don't expect him to. It's that "thing" that "crutch" that you turn to at all different times... when you're lonely, bored, depressed, stressed out, angry, happy, etc., etc... For me, I think the emotional and psychological dependence is almost worse than the physical.
Just the fact that you've been able to make it as far as you have is an inspiration to me!! I'm glad that you came here for support instead of lighting up!! I'm sure I will also have my "melt down" moments and I'm glad that we've both found this place where we can celebrate our victories together and share our fears and exaspirations as well!!
Please let us know the results of your medical tests and I'll be holding a good thought that you'll get good news!!
Hang in there!!
