Any of you afraid of seeing smokers if you go out with friends?

Dear Time If I remember correctly you are the med student. I compare my quit to sort of like having surgery. You stay home the first few days after surgery, then light activity and you slowly work your way back to normal activity. For me, I didn't hang with my smoker friends for a couple of weeks, didn't go to bars for about a month. I still do not drink when I go to a bar (yet) as I am afraid to let my guard down. Your whole quit consists of firsts. First day off from work without smokes, first long drive in the car, first going to the bar, first crisis, first intimate time...first EVERYTHING. Since I smoked since I was 13 years old, many of these things I have never done without smoking. well it is getting harder

Everyone is right. The first 3 days are the toughest. Do drink lots of water. Take it one minute at a time. Think I got thru this hour, now work on the next hour. Spend time here and read and post if you need help. I sucked on cinnamon sticks. They are cool because they are hollow. Stay Strong!! Day 1 and overwhelmed already. HELP!

Dear Time I hope you are checking in here often and reading the posts. You are facing the hardest days. Day 1 , 2 and 3. Also, I read somewhere that quitting smoking is harder on doctors then anyone else. The pressure is so great and the support is so little. But you found the right place for support. It sounds like you have a great plan with the patches and wellbutrin. Many of us face and still are facing how to replace that smoke. The smoke break, the after lunch smoke. Its a matter of changing your habits. For me smoking was an addiction and a bad habit. I use cinnamon sticks to suck on to this day. Early in my quit it was plenty of water and hard candy and cough drops. After eating I brushed my teeth and rinsed with listerine and when I couldn't brush I chewed gum. (the gum-sticking something in my mouth besides the cig) You also need to drink plenty of water! Hang in there and Stay Strong! Polictics and Wellbutrin and United Health(NO)Care

Dear Hyriel Thanks for remembering me. That is just too cool!! Yep, got the results of the biopsy and I do not have the "c" word. It turns out the mass in my lungs is scar tissue caused by emphysema. Further, upon investigation.....it is not a huge surprise that I have this condition totally caused by smoking for more then 3 decades. As long as I don't ever smoke again, this smokers disease is manageable. Thanks Hyriel!! and iwin Thanks for your insight Did you ever get the drugs or get a replacement drug???? Yes my doc did say for depression. I did go and buy myself 2 weeks time but it cost me $100!!! I sent my husband and credit card to pick up the drugs, I would have left the script there if I knew. But......1 week from today I see the doc and will try to once and for all get this resolved. Thanks hyriel and iwin! HELP!!!! First real craving

Dear Jan Please try to hang in there today. Day 3 was one of the worst for me and I did not have this wonderful group for support. You can do this. I know that I think I almost even picked fights with people on day 3 just so I could use the stress and or fight as an excuse to smoke. This is YOUR quit, so don't let anyone take that away from you. I am proud of you for making it 3 days. Stay Strong. The A to Z of quitting

Since I have been at SSC it has been "US" instead of me all Alone. I have been "UP" "UP" "UP" since I quit. UNMISTAKABLY this is the best thing I have ever done for myself.
