ARE THESE MY PANTS?

Did you know that quitting smoking means you get an extra 200 calories a day? That's what the nicotine was burning off. So you have to figure that into any diet/exercise plans. However, I think you deserve a reward for 28 days. How about some no-fat, no-sugar ice cream? YUM! :p Rusty

an addict's denial...

Celia, why are you obsessing over his actions? You have created a litany of dates, times and places that you go over and over in your mind. You are now addicted to his addiction. Believe me, I have been there in a previous life. I applaud you for sticking with your quit, but just like the spouse of an alcoholic, you are playing the martyr/victim game. His addiction has nothing to do with you. Your quit has nothing to do with him. But you are winding them all around each other. And that is a dangerous game to play. Please do some research on co-dependency...check out a book called "Co-dependency No More" by Melanie Beattie. I think you will find it very interesting. Good luck! els1963, start with the Quit Program tools over on the left. The Workbook will give you plenty to read and do. Also, start reading the different posts on the site and surf the Web. Become as knowledgeable as you possibly can about quitting smoking, so that you will be prepared. Good luck! I need som help...somebody yell at me!

Lily, when you stop saying things like "somehow ended up buying..." and "seemed to get another pack" and own up to what you are doing, then you will be on the road to quitting. As long as you slap yourself on the hand and say "oh, bad me" you won't get anywhere. No one can do this for you. You are the one that has to be strong enough and mature enough not to go to the dealer to buy another fix. You are the one who has to see this as an addiction, just like crack. You are the one who has to make it happen. We can help. We can provide words of encouragement and support. But ultimately you have to want to quit more than you want to smoke. And then you have to just not smoke anymore. It's your choice! Coffee?

IWin, I know you don't want to stop drinking coffee, but is it worth losing your quit over? What you might do is try a flavored coffee, experiment with different types of tea, or change your coffee drinking routine to try to outwit the craves. Early in my quit, I lost my taste for coffee. I gradually got it back, but meanwhile learned to appreciate tea. Good luck! Just started having a hard time
I hope I can be a quitter too.
Hooray!!! You ARE a quitter. Three days under your belt is awesome, Fran. I think today you should give yourself a reward...a walk in a beautiful place, a nice dinner, a new CD, or movie. Remember, it's all about you right now. Do whatever it takes to keep this quit. I know you don't want to repeat those 3 days!
