Ryan, my neighbor gained a bunch of weight when she quit -- she didn't alter her diet and in fact, just started stuffing her face to compensate. So she went back to smoking. Guess what? The weight's still there.

Hi Tom, I'm 56 and you can see by my stats I quit 14 months ago. When I quit I also started a walking program -- just 15 or 20 minutes a day to start off. I was able to get my blood pressure and cholesterol back to normal levels, just from quitting smoking and walking.
Good luck to you!
Rusty :)

There is a man on the site who towers above any man I have ever known. He is wise and loving and giving and compassionate and funny. He is an absolute giant of a man and I am so very proud to call him my friend. And tomorrow, Duffis celebrates his one year anniversary. Duffis, many warm thoughts and congratulations are coming your way. I hope you will just sit back in your chair and smile and feel so proud of yourself. You deserve every reward that will come your way. We all love you, especially me!

Hi everybody, wow, we're all in the grumps this week. I haven't been to the Y since Monday...seems like life keeps interfering with my life!
Yesterday I didn't feel like I ate too good - scrambled eggs, toast and bacon for breakfast and then homemade pizza for supper but it only came to 1,253 calories.
I've got to drive to Orlando this afternoon and back Tuesday afternoon. I'm taking my exercise dvds with me, and hopefully the hotel will have a bike.
I made a 1-year thread for Duffis (One Year for the Big Man)...please go there and congratulate him heartily!!!
Rusty

I have eaten an entire box of Girl Scout cookies in a week. By myself.
I guess the good news is that I didn't eat them in one sitting.
Today's menu:
b - bowl of Kashi and skim milk, coffee
l - chicken and brown rice salad, water
s - grapes, 3 Musketeers bar
d - chicken and brown rice salad (it's gone now.)
I also did 20 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of upper and lower with Denise Austin.

Patch, I think you deserve a reward. Look how far you've come and you conquered a MAJOR trigger! You now know (as does your addiction) than you can get through a very stressful situation without a smoke. Good fr you!!!!! How about a Chai Latte or a wonderful bubble bath?
