Lily I am sorry to hear that you want to be yelled at. I will not yell at you. I am sure that you are doing quite a good job of that yourself. When you really want to quit and you are really committed to quit, you will quit. There is something that you have not seen or have not acknowledged around your slip. The only thing that you can do is learn from the slip, pick yourself back up and do what you committed to do in October of 2005 and stop smoking. Good luck. I look forward to hearing your journey. I can only share what I have with you because I have slipped and I have gotten back up and I know that for me it is all about my resolve, my committment and how I am with what my mind tells me. Janet is right it really is a case of N.O.P.E. because one is never enough. What you need to do is try and have a plan to cope with the stress another way, after all you did this when you first quit. Don't fool yourself, smoking does not actually help, you are probably more stressed now because you slipped than you werte when you had the cig. Hi Lily, Just come here often. In the beginning of my quit I would come to the site 3 or 4 times a day to get inspiration. The support you get here is amazing, and will help you immensely along the way. Ok somewhere along the line your are actually giving yourself permission to go buy cigaretts. Your probably having those "Junkie thoughts" that most of us have when we quit but then your letting those thoughts take over. I know what your going thru cause i've had those "just one won't hurt" thoughts or the thoughts where i try to justify having one by telling myself that "i'm so stressed out i NEED IT SO BAD" YOU DON'T NEED IT....I promise you!! You can & will get through stress without cigarettes. I have done it myself, does it suck sometimes? Well yeah of course it does but it is possible to do it. Make a commitment to yourself cause you are worth it and you can do it no matter what is going on in your life. Dust yourself off and start over and come here for help whenever you want to smoke. C'mon don't give up!!! Hi Lily, I'm glad to hear you're ready to hop on the ol' horse again! You ask about the patch. My story with the patch has a happy ending. lol. I went to the doc. back in Dec., 2 weeks before my quit and got a prescription for patches. He had me on 21 mg for 4weeks, 14mg for 2 weeks and then 7mg for another 2 weeks. I have been patch-free now for almost 2 weeks and things are going great. It is definately something for you to consider. I have seen many people here quit using many different methods. You just need to find one that suits you and your life style. You CAN do this for good this time. There is a lot of help and info. to be found here. Hi Lily, I think you need to ask yourself ... Why am I allowing myself to buy and smoke these cigarettes? Are there new stresses in your life? Were you getting something out of your quit(besides the obvious) that you aren't getting now? Like recognition for your hard work, encouragement etc. If you REALLY want this quit, you need to get tough on yourself again. DO NOY BUY ANY MORE CANCER STICKS. Come here and post instead when you get the urge again. We are all here for each other. So, this is the first time I have posted here, but I am in need of some help. I quit smoking back in October 2005 and well...I am afraid that I am back to my old ways. I let stress get to me in the past couple of weeks and somehow ended up buying a pack of cigarettes. I smoked one and through the pack away. Then like 2 days later, there I was again...buying another pack. This one I smoked in entirety over the next week, I have bought and smoked 2 more packs since then. I got mad at myself this weekend and sais "no more" and stupid me bought another pask last night. I don't know what is wrong with me. I did so well in the beginning, now I can't seem to make myself stop even though every time I smoke one I get teary and feel bad about myself. Any suggestions on how to get past this? I don't know how to stop again. I tried throwing them away, but then I seem to get another pack. I am so hating myself right now. Please help. Maybe you can just yell at me and tell me how bad I am? Or maybe you have a suggestion about what I should do?

Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement and for the blunt truth. I have been weak and I am doing more damage to myself than management of stress. I threw away my cigarettes about 2 minutes ago...after reading your responses. Thank you. I know I have a battle ahead of me. Especially in the next few days. Learning to adjust once again to the lack of nicotine. Has anyone tried the nicotine patch personally? I am considering trying this. I went cold turkey back in October and it was hell, but I was able to do it for quite a long time. I am just wondering if I had used the pathc or something if I would have been better able to control the urges that seemed to overtake me recently. Again, thank you all. I am so glad I found this site. I think this is an excellent place to find support for when I feel weak.

I'm glad you found the SSC too lily. I am also pleased you decided to get back on the quit wagon. You'll be thankful you did when you get far enough along to begin enjoying it. Keep the faith. :) ~all the best 2 My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 200 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,416 Amount Saved: $1000 Life Gained: Days: 19 Hrs: 1 Mins: 13 Seconds: 47
