Liz, I don't think you have to give up your friends if you don't want to. At the same time, you do need to have some distance between you and smokers and smoking situations, at least until you are more secure in your quit. You might have to gently tell them this, that your quit is the most important thing in your life and you hope that they will bear with you while you take a little sabbatical.
One week today!!! That is awesome...today you need to give yourself a great reward! New CD, dinner out, movie, new smell-good stuff?
Rusty :)

Melanie, thanks for sharing that! It must make you feel so great to see your father making the big step toward a healthier life.
Ang, you are doing so well -- I really look forward to your positive posts.
It's a beautiful spring day here in North Florida. I walked 2 miles -- it occurred to me while I was walking that a year ago I could not have done it.
Let's all give ourselves a hug!!!

When that little voice of addiction comes knocking at your door, talk to it. Say "You may want one, but I don't. I have chosen not to smoke today."
As Melanie said, make a plan. Be prepared!

Okay, where is everybody?
I went to the site Arielle mentioned and I like it! It's sort of like FitDay, but a little different. It reinforces what I've been afraid of...I haven't been eating enough calories. They talk a lot about this on the other site I use, about how you can really nudge your weight loss if you make sure you're getting enough. I'm allowed 1200-1500 a day, and I'm only averaging 1,000.
So far, so good today. I walked 2 miles and ate:
b - Kashi cereal mixed with lf yogurt and strawberries (340c)
l - deli chicken, swiss cheese, avocado, olive tampanade on wholewheat pita (480c)
d - will be chuck steaks, turnip greens, and salad

Found this on another site and thought it might be useful to some.
[i]Back on track
If you have gotten a little bit off track, today is a great day to re-focus yourself. All it takes is a single step to put you back into a positive direction. Sure, you've slipped a little in the past. That's no reason to abandon the effort. Get back on track. Take one step and re-commit yourself to going the distance.
The difference between winners and losers is not at the beginning of the race. Everyone is there at the starting line. The winners are the ones who persevere to the end, who see it through, who refuse to give up or give in.
Everyone gets sidetracked on occasion. What makes a winner is the ability to quickly get back in the race after each setback. It is never too late to keep on going, so make a commitment to do just that.
Get yourself back on track today. You have the time, you have the ability and you have the desire. So do it! Make the most of what you've already done by seeing it through. Stay on course until the job is finished and you'll count yourself among the winners!

ChickenStix, I hear you on those three miserable weeks. But now is time to look up, look ahead, and march forward with the rest of your life. You now know so much more about yourself -- your strength, your determination, your fortitude -- and that knowledge will carry you far.
21 days is fantastic -- you deserve a big reward!
