My introduction

Hey El, Welcome to the friendliest group on the 'net. I have received more information and suggestions on this site than I can even count. I found this site about 2 weeks before my quit date, and knew I could quit with help from the people here. I quick got my Rx for Chantix, and it was hard to wait for my quit date to get here. I was excited to quit! Imagine that! I looked at all the people with 20 days, 30 days, 40 days, and wondered if I could ever get there, since at the time I registered I had something like a -5 days. Look at me now. I am almost to that 30 day stage. Have I gained weight? yeah, a little. But like my sweetheart said, which is worse? some extra pounds or lung cancer? Quit smoking first, and then work on the weight (I am a real couch potato). Think about your decision to wait. I understand your dilemma, but if you continue your exercise program, maybe weight gain won't be a problem for you. Good luck, keep reading, and with a friend like Ter you will succeed! Just look at her AWESOME stats. The Magic Ship Continues!

IT'S THE WEEKEND! Yaaaaaay! Welcome back everyone! For anyone who want to go to Vegas, the chopper will be ready at noon today. I know, I know, the race is tomorrow, but we all need at least an extra day, after all, it's Vegas. GIVE ME A "V"..... GIVE ME AN "E"..... OKay, you get the idea. I had an interesting evening. Sweetheart and I went to Happy Hour, which I haven't been to in 24 days. I knew I could handle it now, and I did. I admit a little jealousy watching others smoke, had a cigar smoker next to me, Oh Joy! The cigarette smokers were across the bar where I could really see every puff. And I watched, and watched, and watched for about 5 minutes, thinking how they are slowly killing themselves. Today I am babysitting the little ones again, at their non-smoking home this time (with the 2 big dogs). It's always fun! By the time I get home it will be Saturday night....oh...I hear something....sounds like music..... I KNOW THAT SONG....It's SATURDAY NIGHT! S.A.T.U.R.D.A.Y. night S.A.T.U.R.D.A.Y. I gotta get out of these overalls They're throwin' a dance at the union hall I just got paid so I got a little cash I been workin' all week gonna have me a blast Monday, Tuesday, Humpday Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Take up all of my life, and that ain't right I get my rest on Sunday But I have a little fun on Saturday night S.A.T.U.R.D.A.Y. Saturday night S.A.T.U.R.D.A.Y. I'm gonna wash and wax my truck I got a date with lady luck She gonna wear her dancin' shoes And we gonna get just a little footloose Monday, Tuesday, Humpday Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Take up all of my life, and that ain't right I get my rest on Sunday Then I have a little fun on Saturday night S.A.T.U.R.D.A.Y. Saturday night S.A.T.U.R.D.A.Y. Saturday night Saturday night Saturday night Saturday night Well the band just played their last song But me and my baby gonna party on (you know that's right) Gonna find another place with a neon light Can't go home it's Saturday night Monday, Tuesday, Humpday Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Take up all of my life, and that ain't right I take my rest on Sunday Then I have a lot of fun on Saturday night S.A.T.U.R.D.A.Y. Introduction

Glad you are joining us, PRB. I am also in that 1% of highly addicted after smoking 1+ packs (usually closer to 2) per day for 40+ years. The Chantix is the best thing I have ever tried, and I have tried them all. I'll let you know what happens after the 3 mo. Rx runs out. Day One Is Over!!

Hi Lucky, Welcome to the friendliest non-smoking site on the 'net. I have a relative with COPD who went through a lung transplant. Not a nice thing...all the pills and follow up with various doctors, labs, etc. She gets poked and stuck every week, but she can breathe. Can you believe she STILL smokes? She used to take her oxygen off and smoke. NUTS! She thinks her doctors don't know..... I also smoked for 42 years, and I haven't had any lung problems so far. I just hope I quit (again) in time. Congratulations on Day 1! It gets better as you go along...and when you least expect it that nasty Nic O'Demon shows up and tests you. Just kick him in the ash! Stick around, you will be one of us by tomorrow! We'll take good care of you! carrots- go figure

I had a stress ball in the car, I would squeeze the heck out of it when I had a crave. It's somewhere in the back seat now... The Magic Ship Continues!

Hi everyone, Welcome back Rainie. I hope your bike week was everything you hoped it would be, and then some. Freemom, keep checking in with us. We are still here to help you whenever you are ready. Cap'n, those blues are soundin real cool. Haven't heard much of your music lately. Wanted to update you on Nurse29 and hubby. Both are still smoke free, she since 2/22 and he since 3/4. She is still doing it cold turkey, and he is trying Wellbutrin. They should have the Internet back some time next week....oh boy, no smokin and no Internet! They are getting settled into their new place. Day 27 comes to an end for me. Craves are fewer and far between. Could it be spring is actually coming to E PA? It was a good day and I am in a good way! Enjoy your evening! The Magic Ship- Board Here!

Ky woman, I, too, am on Chantix, and when the day came, like our Capt, I just didn't smoke any more. I started on bupropion sr a week ago (I take it with the Chantix in the morning), mainly so I would stop eating everything including the kitchen sink. No problems so far. The craves are there occasionally, but not nearly as often as early on. It's nothing I can't handle with a little chocolate and a stress ball. If you really want to quit, you just have to quit. Have you gone through the steps in the tools? You really need a plan to cope with the rough times. You may second guess yourself for a few days, but if you read as much as you can on this site (old and new posts) you will be sure to find someone who is or has gone through exactly what you are going through at any given time. It's almost uncanny! Good luck, we'll be watching you! To all my shipmates, and with a tip o' the beanie to the Captain, good to see you again. Are we planning a green celebration on Saturday to show old Nick O'Demon who is in charge around here? Anybody got plans? Keep singin' and dancin' everyone!
