El, Welcome to the SSC! Perhaps you should look through our quit program and then make a decision? Many members have found Chantix helpful as it reduced their cravings while they were still smoking, making it easier to quit completely. If you have any other questions, just ask. We are always here to help. Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team

El - I'm also a Chantix user, and my vote is that you start the Chantix now. Over the next 7 days, visit this site a lot. I have a feeling something will start clicking for you. I wanted to quit, but I also didn't want to quit...I struggled with this ambivalence for a long time. Then, I heard about Chantix & got it from my doctor. I read the information that came with it, and came back to the SSC (I had used the SSC once before). I prepared myself as much as possible - I read up & stocked up (gum, carrots, water, etc), and by the time my quit date arrived I was more/less ready. Kind of like jumping into a pool - it was shocking & cold at first, but it didn't take as long as I expected to get use to it. And now I'm having a wonderful swim! You Really Can Do This! Hi El, Welcome to the SSC. I am Terri's quit buddy. We have had quite a ride over the past months and it has been a life changing experience. I cant comment on using chantix as I quit cold turkey, but I can say that whatever way you decide to quit is wonderful nas long as it works. I honestly believe the biggest aide in smoking cessation is the right mindset. You have to be motivated. You have to want to do it. You seem hesitant. You seem to be making excuses. Please El, work through quit program work book to the left. take your time be honest with yourself. It is possible to beat this addiction. Lets be honest you have everything to gain and everything to lose. We are here to help you every step of the way. It can be done and it is the most worthwhile thing you could possibly do for yourself. as we say in New Zealand "Kia Kaha Katou" be strong ,my friend. hello El, welcome, and hopefully this site will get you on your way to quitting. you said you enjoy smoking. what part of smoking do you like? the stinky smell it leaves on your clothes,in your house an d everything else? or maybe the way it makes you cough up some nice nasty crap all the time. or maybe you enjoy the way you laugh and then the laugh turns into a coughing fit, and everybody looks at you and knows your a smoker. or maybe you enjoy the time you waste smoking those ciggs. even when i smoked i couldnt stand it, or enjoy it. i am an addict, and i smoked because of it. not because i enjoyed it. youll learn that here, among other things. stop fooling yourself. thats the nicodemon talking. good-luck My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 147 Amount Saved: $20 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 14 Mins: 58 Seconds: 5
