Dont you people get it!!

DJ/JOYCE, Think back to many years ago before you took that first cig. Think what it was like as a non smoker. You never had a craving, you never looked around for your smokes, you never had to run the the store because the pack was getting low, you never had to worry about the smokers breath, you never had to sneak outside for a quick few drags. But as a smoker, you have to do all these things and more. Remember when you took that first drag, remember how you coughed up a lung during that first deep drag? Well, keep that in mind, because as a quitter, you dont cough any more any all the things I mentioned will stop abrupbtly. You have to keep busy, your whole life has to change. But not for ever, just until your quit is strong enough to handel the trigger points. I am 65 days into my quit, I still to this day have to rethink my every move. I ditched all my trigger points and that helps a great great deal. The part that saved me is the bitterness and the anger that I put into my quit. You have to train your thought and we all have that ability to do that. Sometimes we have to do things that we dont wanna do. Thats to bad, we got ourselvs into this situation, so we must get ourselves out. Stress playes a very big part of your quit. If you start seeing one sign of stress, walk outside and stand there and take a deep breath. Take several if you like. But realize that when you were stressed out, you reached for that cancer stick. Only this time, the cancer stick is now longer a part of your life. So when that urge comes with the stress, you have to get mad, very mad, but stay incontrol of your anger, dont cry, thats will hinder you at that moment. Kick your feet, stamp on the ground. I promise you, the urge will go away quickly. Train yourself by thinking and expressing yourself. This quit will be easier and it will work!! Stay in control of your quit, dont whine and remember, you are a special person and you can do this. It is all in your head Joyce. Good luck my friend, you can and will do this. Stay mad at the urge as it want to control you for ever! O.M.G wow

Shebear, Way to go! But hold the phone a minute. Enjoy the 2 days of a non-smoker, but at the same time, realize that you have a tough up hill battle on your hands. Its going to take all your efforts to do this, so please stay alert and use all the tools to fight this urge as it wants to see you fall. So keep your guard up and fight that urge. When it gets hard, you have to get tough. 10 bucks a pack? Wow, I only had to pay 4 bucks! Good luck to you and keep your head in the battle! TO ALL OF YOU! PLEASE READ!

Hi auntdeb, With no strings attached, I would do more than my part as your partner to mentor our new members. A task that I would be delighted to except. Many people who smoke will never know what it is like to feel like they did when they didnt smoke. I hope to be able to change that and I hope that people will see that there are no advantages to smoking. I want to share something with you if I may. I am a hockey coach, I coach 17 and 18 year old kids. Last night when I pulled into the parking lot of the rink we were playing, I seen my center dragging off a cig. I didnt say anything to him when I first seen him, but after our game was over I pulled him aside and asked him why he choose to smoke. He replied, " coach, I smoke cuz I dont want to go into a nursing home". I had to rub my eyes at that one. I just looked at him and replied, " dont worry, you wont" Looking forward to the challange! I cant believe i am angry and depressed and i only quit yesterday

Babygirl,,,, I love that name! lol. Guess what babe, you already completed step one! You admitted that you are a failure!! But you really are not a failure, you just need to see and to realize that what you think is your friend is actually something that is trying to destroy you at a slow pace and up to now, its winning. You want that cig but you know its the wrong choice to continue. You are angry and that is so cool! Now get even more angry, but only this time, get angry at what the addiction is doing to you. Turn your anger into your friend instead of your cigs. I am sure that you know what cigs can do to you. But that really dont matter now. What matters is that you understand that you need to change things in your life if you want to continue to live it. "Change" is one of the most important issues in your quit. In order to keep your quit, you must change your life in many ways. If you panic you must change that as well. Hey babe, you are not alone. Panic is the feeling you get when you know some thing needs to be corrected. Its that simple. Work on one issue at a time. Seems like you have been down this road b4, so you know that you have to be tough and remain that way for the duration. Take one second at a time and work on one issue at a time. Your addiction is your addiction, no one elses. Thats where this site helps. Learn about your addiction and learn what it does to you. But in all actuallality, you dont want that cig, you want that addiction. So now you must change the addiction. IT CAN BE DONE! Its all in your head and you need to realize that you can control your addiction. It just takes time and it takes a strong attitude. We will give you the strong attitude, you need to except it and keep it strong. I will promise you one thing babygirl, I will promise you that if you really want to do this, you will get all the help you need from the people on this site. We will not pick you up off the ground, rather we will catch you before you fall. You must change your life style. That is, you must eliminate what is accociated with smoking. That is so important. If the cig goes with the coffee, you must eliminate it totally. Same goes for the stress ponts. Remember, stress is a triger point. Work on the bigest triger points first. If you need help wit
