Tony here in England and determined to beat this demon.

Hello Tony, Look, I dont claim to have all the answers, but why dont you try and put this quit in a different perspective. I, like so many, have tried and failed. But this time is the best I have ever had. I dont look at cigs as a demon or a sorcerer, I look at it as something that is trying to kill me and my family. That makes me so mad that something is trying to distroy me and my beautiful kids. Would you not protect your family if something was going to hurt them? Of cource you would! Take a cigarett and hold it up to the light, look at it and tell yourself that you wont let it beat you and you wont let it kill your kids! Cause any father would not let anything happen to there kids if they trully loved them. That goes for me to! Hate it, get really mad at what it is doing to you ang your family? I still have a 1/2 pack of winston in my frig right next to the eggs. Every time i go in that frig, i sware at that pack and it makes me feel great! When the urge comes, stick your middle finger up at it! Do it 3 times to! Then laugh cuz you beat that urge. Continue to do that. When u see a butt on the ground, spit at it and jump on it! Kill it even more! Hey, you have to get used to the fact that you can beat it and control it. Its not unstopable! It can be handeled! But you have to first admitt that you are fighting not a demond, but a thing that has controled u for years. Now its your turn to control it. And like i, you can control it also until it is dead! Its mind over matter! Get pissed off! Use words that you never use! Who cares, its worth it! But look at that smoke right in the gun powdered lines! And spit on it! 64 days w/out a puff, than bam!!

Its been 64 days since a puff. Gained 9 lbs, I feel great. Then last saturday night, I awoke to a strange feeling. I was in arterial fibulation. Heart beating sporadically. Drove to the hospital, was hooked up to a EKG. Was given 2 mg of ativan, cardizem drip for fast heart rate (176). Finally they gave me digoxin and I converted back to sinus rhythm. SO, THIS IS THE THANKS I GET? WOW! IT'S NOT FAIR! DAM IT! 64 days w/out a puff, than bam!!

Hello Faith! Lost my anger?? NOT A CHANCE! After I go for the stress test, I will be right back at it! I'll except this, its ok. It did drop me down a notch perhaps, but I am a stubbron italian!! Loveable but strobbron! As far as mr. rynolds, well, that will never stop. NEVER!. I will listen to the cardiologist, no prob. But I will be back. I will without a doubt take a different approach on this heart thing. Thought because I quit, it was time to be 18 again. I will take the lopressor for as long as i need it. But Faith, no way will i go back to puffing. I am awaiting my discharge summery of last saturday night. When I get them, they will be sent to mr idiot! I hope he chokes on it too! Be safe Faith, thanks for thinking of me! 64 days w/out a puff, than bam!!

Scary Marie?? Thats not the half of it. When you go into A-FIB, you feel like your heart is trying to jump out of your chest, you sweat profuslly, and you think the worst will happen. You panic cuz your heart is beating so rapidly and you cant stop it. So, make your quit the last one! Dont worry about getting fat, dont worry about what other people will think, just make sure you do it this time for good! Screw all the excuses! Stick with your quit. Fight the urge, and like I have said from the begining, get very pi**ed off at what these killer sticks did to you for so long!! Die from old age, not from lung cancer or heart disease. Does any one know what your lungs looks like after smoking 15 years? I will tell you. It looks like someone threw a handfull of coffee grounds at your lungs. It is not a pretty site. Problem is, we cant see our lungs like we can see our skin. If our lungs were on the outside of our body, NO ONE WOULD SMOKE! But we seem to take very good care of our skin becaues we can see our skin. We put cream on our skin to protedt it, we use all kinds of products to make our skin look so good. But we take our lungs for granted because we cant see it. I took a gross anatomy class in school. Got to see first hand what a lung looked like from a guy that smoked for 25 years. It looked gross. It was not pink, it was black. The aveloies were filled with what looked like coffee grounds! That is why we who smoke, have a hard time breathing. The carcinagens fill the aveloies and the oxygen cant pass through. Eventually we get emphazema and worce yet, we get a soft cell tumor and we die!! KEEP YOUR QUIT GOING! Dont you people get it!!

I read these threads and sometimes I get crazy, mad, understanding and most times I get pi**ed! Some of you say, "im going to try to quit" "im scared" "i hope i can do it" " im not sure if i can". Please, please step back and look at yourselvs and your life. Think of what you have to lose by smoking and who you are hurting if not already hurt. Look at the consequences if your attitude is not superior. You have to put all your attention, your efforts, all your knowledge and all your will power to beat this thing. You cant have an attitude like " ill try to quit" " i hope this time i will do it" "im scared". Scared??? you have no idea what scared is. If you think your scared now to quit, wait till that doctor tells you that you have terminal lung cancer so get your afairs in order. Thats when you should be scared. Dont be scared to quit!! OMG! Get with it. This is a life or death situation people. You only have 2 choices, you either quit, or you die! There is no iron lung that is on the market that will save you and lung transplants dont work yet. So if you all want to live to see your kids grow up or to see your grand children grauate from school, i highly suggest you take a more positive attitude. If you start spitting blood, you might as well put your head between your legs and kiss your ash goodby. Cuz your time will be short and activities will be limited. So who ever reads this and is thinking about puffing or is too scared to quit, think of how you will tell your loved ones that you have lung cancer. Explain to them how you are coughing up blood and what it feels like. Tell them that you were to scared to quit and you were weak. Tell them that you are sorry, but you cant be with them any longer cuz you couldnt beat your addiction. Tell them how you gave up and you lost at the one most important thing that you couldnt do! Smarten up people! Keep your head right and concintrate on what you are doing and it probably wouldnt hurt to keep your God close to your heart and ask him to help you with this sever problem you have. Keep the faith!
