Hello X-Quitter! You sure have come to the right place. :) This is the BEST place there is on the web! CONGRATULATIONS on being 5 days quit! That is awesome! Just take one day at a time. As other people here say, put one foot in front of the other and be gentle with yourself. Reward yourself all of the time...... What are your questions? There is always someone around to help you out when you need. All you have to do is reach out!! Stay strong! Keep up the GREAT work! ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 73 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,215 Amount Saved: $238.71 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 22 Mins: 39 Seconds: 36

Hello

Hope you feel a little cheerier soon! Relaxing outside does sound wonderful! My weather here is perfect for that!! Unfortunately, I have to wisk the kids off to church, then think about dinner..... etc, etc...... my list keeps going until late tonight...... I so know what you guys are talking about with the smell....... YUCK!!!! I do enjoy the smell of a freshly lit cig, but the after-smell is just about nausiating!!! I spent a lot of time just trying to get that after-smell out of my house (we never smoked inside, but after smoking in the garage, then opening the door to come back in.... well the stench follows.....) and now my hubby is stinking it up all over again!! Oh, well. I'll just buy stock in Fabreeze......... I ve just got to stop

Hi there Mr. Mom!! I am glad you found your way here! Your story made me tear up! I am extremely sensitive to anything that has to with parents/children! So, where do I start? How about picturing this.......... You can make that choice. Only you. You say you are waiting for that desire to not smoke to kick in?? You have to make it. I believe that what X-Smoker said is true. Fake it till you make it. I made it this far doing just that. I have my freedom back. Make yourself believe that you are quitting. Just for now, don't light that next cig. Do anything...... but don't smoke. Take it one cig at a time. Make it a choice to not have that one. And don't look beyond that moment. Do NOT sit and dwell on that craving though. Get up and out, drink water, and get onto this site!! Post your feelings and wait for 5 responses. But again, do not think about letting your thoughts wonder....... Take the control back. Make it a choice. Carry around a picture of your daughter, and keep it as your inspiration. Every time you feel like lighting up, look into her eyes. You don't want to do that to her. To have her see you take your last struggling breath, is painful! Don't make a burden of yourself to your child. She is just a child. Your child. Gather her for your motivation, and spend some quality time together. Sign up for a father-daughter class. She will love anything you do with her. Stay strong. There is no magic pill to ease this. You can make it as hard as you want, or as easy as you want. It is up to you. We will be here for you! Cheering for you! Just reach out to us! ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 74 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,235 Amount Saved: $241.98 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 23 Mins: 55 Seconds: 27

Worse before it gets better

Fear Less, I'm so sorry you are feeling this way! I'm also sorry, but I did have a chuckle at your post. Not that it is funny, but I sure went through the exact same thing! But the way you wrote it, made me laugh. Thank you for that! Okay, you know --- this is temporary. I too was grossed out by the "healing" part. But it is a wonderful feeling to know that I am getting rid of all the toxins that I put in there. I quit cold turkey, and the first 3 days were horrible!! But I read a lot on what was going to happen to me, so I was prepared!!! You are doing a great job!! Keep rewarding yourself and drowning yourself in water!! Oh, and yes, joining the Y will definately help! I enrolled in a Pilates class a few weeks ago, and I totally feel better!! What I difference! I love it, and I am going to add another day next month. Keep drinking the water, and get outside for some fresh air, and add in your exercise. You will feel better!! I promise!! ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 74 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,234 Amount Saved: $241.98 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 23 Mins: 52 Seconds: 10

Fed up with failing

Hi Markyboy! WELCOME to the SSC! We are all here to support and guide you on your journey! Please take the time to complete the tools to the left. They are very helpful! Being addicts, we all had and have our excuses to smoke. Funny how we talk ourselves out of quitting all of the time. (ie: I love smoking; I am too stressed out; I'm with other smokers; I'm too weak; After this one.........) There is no perfect time to quit, except now. There will always stressful times in our lives, but now you will have to find another way to get through them. That's where the tools here come in! Once you desire to Not smoke outweighs your desire to smoke, you will quit. Take care, and let us know how it is going! ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 74 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,235 Amount Saved: $241.98 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 23 Mins: 53 Seconds: 13

Back to work

Hi Lucy, CONGRATULATIONS on 2 days smoke free!!!!!! That is great! One craving at a time..... Don't look beyond that yet. While putting one foot in front of the other, and taking baby steps, you will get there! Just make a choice, and fight for your choice. Fight for your freedom! Unfortunately, there is notrying in quitting. If you try, you leave yourself open for failure. Not this time though! You will do it. No ifs, ands, or buts about it........ Just choose to not smoke!! Your quit is yours. Even though living with smokers sucks, you can still choose not to smoke. Don't let your brain tell you how you "miss" smoking. Instead, keep telling yourself that you choose not to smoke, you do not want to smoke. Only you can control your thoughts, and therefore, control the depth of your cravings. Stand strong!!!! We are here for you!!!! ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 74 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,233 Amount Saved: $241.98 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 23 Mins: 43 Seconds: 51

Just a goofy night

Hi Tojo! I used to do that all of the time in my car. I'm not sure why.... as I hardly ever smoked in there..... only when the kids were not in it, of course!!! It's not silly, though I felt very silly. People were probably thinking, "wtf"!!!!! That is a wierd lady!! I just needed a smoke very bad......... I refused to give in, so I pretended to smoke. It did the trick though!! Hang in there. Be strong! ;) lol My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 74 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,233 Amount Saved: $241.98 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 23 Mins: 43 Seconds: 4
