starting first day

Hi Ann & her hubby! Congratulations on your quit!! What a great decision you both have made! My hubby and I quit together as well. It really was not as bad as most people, me included, thought it would be. We were not at eachothers throats. We never picked a fight with eachother. Etc, Etc... I wish both of you well! Luck has nothing to do with it! This is your choice, and yours alone. You are choosing not to smoke. My advice: take one craving at a time. Thats it. Do not look beyond that, for now. Drink TONS of water. Suck on hard candies. Eat licorice. Go for lots of walks. And take it easy the next few days! Get plenty of rest. Take naps if you want. Pamper yourselves right now. Be gentle and kind. You will make it!! ;)4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 74 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,233 Amount Saved: $241.98 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 23 Mins: 44 Seconds: 53

Self Talk

Hi X-smoker, Well I will put my experience in here too. I have been one of those quitters that have expierenced things a bit early. My thoughts, (for me they are already thoughts. I no longer have cravings or urges.) on smoking eased up in my 3rd week. It was just around the same time when something hit me and I realized that I hated smoking. I wanted to fight. I put up my dukes and said "Lets get it on............" And that is where I am today. I feed my brain with positives. I try to look on the bright side....... And I still have my boxing gloves on, ready to kick some a$$. I just know I will never smoke again. And just as N2K said, the desire is no longer the same. Stay strong! ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 75 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,250 Amount Saved: $245.25 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 0 Mins: 53 Seconds: 45

Is this possible...

Hi there! I totally know what you are talking about!! That is me that you described! I am definately more calmer and have more patience with my girls now, than when I smoked! Just as skidoo said -- except I still beat myself up for being such a bad mom. It sounds so horrible to actually admit that I always put my needs and my addiction ahead of my childrens lives. I won't go into details, but lets just say I was a true addict. I never left my post. Anyhow, yes, I think this is a new you! Enjoy it! I love the new me, I still have my ups and downs, and my happys and sads, but I feel so peaceful most of the time. I love it. Enjoy yourself! Take care, and congratulations on your 4th day!!! ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 75 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,250 Amount Saved: $245.25 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 0 Mins: 52 Seconds: 17

Question on stats that concern me

Hi Cuddles, I have noticed that as well. I remember there was a post from a well loved person here. Well, they got, uuummmm, quite a few pages worth of responses. And then there was a post from a new person, and she only got 2 responses. I too try to answer as much as I can. I do not answer ones that I dont have much expierence on. But that I need to work on. Just to stop in and say Hi, or Thinking about you, or Wish you well. That would still help out! I dont think it is intentional. Everyone here seems to care a great deal about Everyone!! Those who are well known, are usually known for a reason -- they post/reply a lot. Lets all just pay a little closer attention to those posts that do have a lot of responses. Who knows - maybe your reply is just what that person needed to hear!! withdrawal symptom?

I too expierenced that. Mine was more of a "spinning" instead of being dizzy. It happened all throughout the day, but was hard core when I laid down. Mine too was to the point of being sick. And it lasted 40 days for me. Take it easy. This is a healing part. Just do a search here on the boards for "dizzy" or "spins". You should see some posts there. Take care of yourself! ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 75 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,261 Amount Saved: $245.25 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 1 Mins: 38 Seconds: 26

Looking for some support

Babs, I really feel for you. I too have to put my anger in check. I also, well just recently, developed resentment. My hubby went back to smoking, and I was angry. That has turned into resentment. He will not listen to me when I talk about smoking. He thinks I am nagging at him when I tell him to shut the garage door because I can smell the ashtray. He thinks I am on his a$$ when I walk into our bedroom after him and get a huge wiff on ashtray, and my natural reflex is to gag. I try to hide it, but it is hard when I gag and run out of the room holding my mouth!!! Oh, I had to vent that. Sorry. Anyhow, remember that it is nobody elses fault that we quit. They should not be the people we take it out on because we no longer know how to deal. Okay, but it is not easy. You have to vow to yourself that you will not take it out on your loved ones. Now sticking up for yourself is different. Especially when you feel that you are being dumped on. But keep it clean. Remember to breathe. Listen to a relaxing CD when you feel uptight and need to explode! Oh, and one more thing. Babs, I think you need to do something special for yourself. You deserve it. You have a lot of stuff going on and I think you have forgotten about you. Reward yourself with something, but only for YOU. You are doing GREAT!!! ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 75 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,265 Amount Saved: $245.25 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 1 Mins: 50 Seconds: 43
