Congratulations on your first big chunk of non-smoking paradise! Although for me, it didn't really seem like it during the first week! Heh. :) Anyways, I know what you mean about that voice. That's why it was so important to me to keep occupied. I chewed a lotta starburst and sucked down a mile of Werthers hard candies! I also just did "stuff". Watched TV, DVD's, talked with friends, cleaned up around the house. Anything to keep my mind occupied so that it didn't have a chance for the voice to start. Oh, I also completely cleaned out and re-arranged my garage. Heh. And yes, the next 5 days WERE easier than the first, to answer your question. Woo Hoo! Keep it up, and way to go! Awesome XSmoker, Glad to have you join us quitters! Congrats on getting through 5 whole days, that's terrific. You're almost through hell week. The SSC has the best folks and tool (on the left of your screen) to help you prepare for your non-smoking lifestyle. Hang out and post as often as you need to and know someone will be here for you - and since we all once smoked, we all "get" what's happening with you. Hi X-Smoker - Welcome... You will find so much support here. Stay close, and it helped me to go back and read old posts here. Just build your toolbox of proactive behaviors for the tough days, and take it one moment at a time. Hi X-Smoker - A Big Huge Welcome to you!! You are now done with your 6th day! You are almost at a week! WooHoo!!! Sounds like reward time for you!! Think of something that would be a treat for you...playing in the park with your beautiful children, taking a camera out with you and taking fun pictures of them, going for ice cream, or maybe a pedicure treat! That's my personal favorite! Sometimes it's hard at first navigating around here and I was never able to download the instant messenger and other things so don't feel too bad about that! You can work the Quit Program Notebook without downloading it and read the many wonderful posts here on the message board. I don't know where I would be without all the wonderful support and encouragement that I get here. I know that I would not have been able to continue on my non-smoking path. Check out the different topics and the threads inside. Everyone here had been through many, many different situations and have come out on the other side as non-smokers. And when you hear that little voice - mine screamed at me most of the time - I just imagined a big ol baseball bat squishing that voice until it sounded like bug on helium! You can do this! I know that you can! You want to be around for your children. They can be your biggest motivator! So come here and post when you need help. Someone will always be around. I'll be looking for you!!
