Hi mjsmith,

I know how it is to have pms I've had it for years, and have been going
through perimenopause for the last 7 years! When I feel the mood swings
coming on I try to find something to do that I like weather it's reading
a good book or walking on the treadmill or getting outside if the weather
allows, it lets me kind of regroup and I don't snap as much at the family.

finding confidence

What I have notice about having anxiety and panic over the years is
the loss of self confidence and self esteem. my husband made the
comment the other day that it's not that I don't have confidence in
others, it's that I don't have confidence in myself, and it was like
a light bulb went off! I have been trying to work on myself but it's
hard sometimes to get that confidence back, do others have this
feeling also? It's not like I have none but in some areas it's a little
harder.

Accomplishments and other Postive Things

Thanks david I'm trying but it's going to take awhile, and it looks
like I'm going to get alot of practice as what started out to be a
small remodel just turned into a major remodel!!! that means alot
of trips to the store! best to all.

finding confidence

Thank you Ladybird, Red, and Househippo for your replies I could relate
to what each one of you where saying, I guess it is just going to take time
to build up that area of my life. I do work on other hobbies to build up
my confidence but that inner voice sometimes likes to ugly head so to speak! LOL

Thanks Ashley for your post, you asked me how my life would be different
if I had more confidence, I guess I would be able to do more of the things
I need and want to do, to be more independent.

best to all

Older Children Coping with Panic Attack in Parent

Hi Cie,

I agree with what the others have said, I to have had panic and anxiety off and on
for about 21 yrs and have raised a daugther during that time. while she was
growing up we always made it clear that it was nothing  for her to worry about
and that it was no different than if I had heart or sugar problems that it to can
be managed. My daugther is 21 and I can understand what you are saying about your
daugther's reaction, I think at that stage in her life she is scared, scared that she
might not have you to lean on, scared that you won't be able to participate in the
things she will have coming up in her future ( YOU WILL!!!!) I can tell by you saying
that you are both close that she depends on you as daughters do, and she is scared.
Have her read up on anxiety and panic so that she knows that it is very common
and that it can be managed. The walking out without talking is just her trying to
cope with her fear. she loves you and wants you to be ok. Do the program and
try to include her by letting her help with some exposure exercizes. hope this
helps.  keep posting.

can tell it's working!

Hi All,

Just wanted to post that I had another successful trip to the dentist yesterday!
I have to go every 4 months and I alternate between two offices. I sometimes
have anxiety and most times have some form of anxiety while
I'm their so I have started to tell them when I get into the room that I'm a
big chicken and to go easy on me! It lets them no that I'm nervous and breaks the
ice so to speak. the gal I saw was new and she made me feel so comfortable
when I said that. I didn't have any panic and I thanked her for making the
visit so pleasant. I think that surprised her. I felt so good that I even walked across
the street after, to a ice cream store that my husband and I had been wanting to try
and didn't have any anxiety their either! It was a good day. I can tell that the program
and the confidence cd's are working for me. thanks for listening.
