Working on exposure

Thank you everyone for your wonderful replies!!! I'm glad
I can give people hope as I have gotten so much from this forum
in helping me with my panic and anxiety! shari I don't mind you
calling me sweetbee as I answer to anything!LOL  My hubby
gave me my name sweatbee because he says that I'm like one
(not big enough to hurt anyone, just big enough to be a pain in the toot!LOL).

samantha: I have been using the program and I am finding session 4
on exposure is very helpful, I don't always go in order with my exposure
list but if I can fit something in that will help build my confidence I try
to do it, and yes if I have the panic feelings I do it anyway! I think now
I can tell when I start an exposure if it's to much for me or not to do
and I always give myself the ok to stop at anytime, that takes the
pressure off.  My best to all.

exposure work

Hi All,

Today was the bridal shower and I wanted to let everyone know that
it went well!! I had to go to walmart and that gave me some strong
anxiety ( I haven't been to that store in over 4 yrs!) But I did not run
I worked through it, don't get me wrong it was hard but I won't let
myself run anymore.  At the shower I was helping  to get the decorations
done and had not had any lunch, and at one point I started to get those
shaky feelings and then people started arriving ( have been having a thing about
crowds) I just went into the restroom where it was quiet and clammed myself down
for about 5 mins and it really helped! The shower was great and I realized that with
the coping skills that I learned on this site and thinking about all of you that I could
have a good time and relax. I hope the wedding next month goes as well. My best to all.

Empty Nest Syndrome & Finding a New Role or Purpose in Life - Ideas?

Shari,

I totally agree with you about what is happening to the different
dog breeds, I have always been around dogs, I had a shepherd
for 12 1/2 yrs and she was a sweetie, but We  looked for about
6 1/2 months going to different breeders before we found her
most of the dogs we saw had alot of black in their coat and they
were all bread for the low back legs, I wanted one with more of
a fawn coloring and I was told that they bread for more of the black
because that was what the judges were looking for same thing for the hips
and I knew that that would lead to hip dysplasia.. We Lucked out and
found our dog shenia she was fawn with a little black on her back, she
had such a great temperament. I miss her still. We now have  a westie
that we have had for almost 9 yrs and she doesn't think she a dog!!! LOL
we treat her like a kid and is loved like one.  Hopefully  one day soon
the akc and other groups will realize that temperament and health comes
first.

waking with panic

Hi Red,

I'm sorry you have hit a ruff patch, I can relate with what you are
feeling as I have helped take care of family members for many yrs
and I have found when the questions come up(did I do enough?
could I have done anything different?) I tell myself that I did my
best and that is enough! I don't regret any of it as I look at it as life's
learning expriences and that I will be prepared for what comes next.
Hope this helps. all my best.

Lack of Direction

Hi,

I to have had that lackof direction, I had my own bussiness for 7 yrs
and then I gave it up to take care of a sick family member. for the
last 3 yrs I have been sort of in a rutt, I have a couple of Ideas of
bussiness's that I might like to start but I'm afraid to, because If I
have the panic and anxiety flair up really bad I won't be able to
keep it going. and I still have not mastered the driving and being
comfortable around alot of people at a time.  I am getting
better, but I don't know if I'm to the point where I feel sure
enough to do it. Just thinking (typing!) out loud.

Social Anxiety

Hi Teebs,

I know it was hard to here what  your  coworker had to say,
( cant say it was done nicely either) but look at it as life
telling you that you have out grown the job and is pointing
you in a new life direction! You said that you want to do
photography, life is freeing up the time for you! Tell it thank you
and start doing what you feel passionate about!  We will be rooting
for you! All my best.
