6 months for me

Yes, I am struttin' six great big glorious smoke free months today!!!! These stats look real good on me, doncha think.....(I can only dare to dream what a year will be like). I'm telling you, newbies, if I can do it so can you. Bad habits were what I was good at, NOT breaking them :p And my reward will be a trip to see Billy Crystal Saturday night. I deserve to LMAO and he is a very funny guy. Thank you all for the support, the kind words and the many kicks in the behind when needed. The level of kindness on this site is extraordinary. Trying to stop

I took wellbutrin briefly, when I was 3 months into my quit, and thought it was the best! I gave it up after I ran out but many here found it extremely helpful in the beginning. Some of us need a little help along the way....gum, patches whatever helps get rid of the filthy addiction. Congratulations on your decision to quit and welcome to ssc...stay close....read and post. Let us know how you are doing. Not one puff ever, Janet My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 180 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,619 Amount Saved: $900 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 20 Mins: 46 Seconds: 45

I need to calm down...help!

When you first stop smoking, it is useful and healthy to spend time in conflict. Thinking about what's most important. Agonizing. Soul searching. If you do this, each decision to not smoke becomes a little easier. And eventually the final decision is solid and the conflict is gone. Just don't smoke. Stay close and strong, Janet My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 180 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,619 Amount Saved: $900 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 20 Mins: 50 Seconds: 33

100 day cravings/1 year cravings! U gotta be kidding!!!!!

Duffis/Bob the voice of wisdom with a heart of gold: Remember: Every time you reach a hand out to help someone else you automatically receive a hand in return. Isn't it terrific how that works? So make sure you keep shouting those words of encouragement and helping others. "C'mon Judy You Can Do It, C'mon Judy You Can Do It." You'll be helping yourself up that hill as well. This is you Duffis. The wisdom is so uplifting always at just the right time. Neither of the above applies....was just irritable. First it's the discomfort of the quit. Then it's the agony of the gym. AND I, too, am no spring chicken. Today is better, thanks. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 179 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,591 Amount Saved: $895 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 16 Mins: 19 Seconds: 46

It's time now--asking for support

We are always here for you, Newbker, your tragedy has touched our hearts as has your strength. You have been through a very difficult time and the fact that you want to tackle the quit again says alot about your character. The thing I remember most about the cigs is I "thought" they were a source of comfort. Wrong. Is it too soon to reward yourself just for making the decision:-) It is tough but doable.....hang in there and stay close. We want to know how you are doing, Janet :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 180 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,612 Amount Saved: $900 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 19 Mins: 36 Seconds: 41

CALM AND RELAXED

Those stats are lookin' real good, Peanut. At this stage of the quit game I am wondering why I didn't do it 20 or is it 30 years ago.Lol. It's very nice to know how it feels to be a quitter...had smoked my entire adult life. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 180 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,611 Amount Saved: $900 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 19 Mins: 33 Seconds: 45

OPEN APOLOGY

Congratulations, Duffis, both on your anniversary and for your wife's decision to quit. I remember from past posts that her health issues are of great concern to you. With you being "head cheerleader", I am sure that she will be successful this time. I feel people with smoking spouses deserve special kudos. I could NEVER do it. Again, I want to thank you for your eloquent and very moving apology. Given your history, I knew immediately that that post was completely out of character and you were just having an "off" day. Moving on.....my back is fine today and I'm going back to the gym. It's alot like the quit. Agony at first but with an excellent outcome a few months down the road. There are rewards in being healthy that are totally unexpected and just feel so dam good...breathing, being strong and fit. Life is good and very good. NOPE, Janet :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 180 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,611 Amount Saved: $900 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 19 Mins: 27 Seconds: 29

No harm, no foul, Duff-alicious, now i'm really pushin' it ..(only to make you smile). You are a gentleman and a scholar. Your posts are always insightful and intelligent plus email among strangers can get dicey. And the lesson for me is stick to the subject of the quit! ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 179 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,597 Amount Saved: $895 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 17 Mins: 16 Seconds: 59

SH smoke can trigger a new series of withdrawal symptoms?

Ahhhh, Romania, land of the gymnasts in my mind. Love your stubborn determination. And how is your money comparable to the dollar? Am curious obout the cost of a pack of cigs. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 176 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,535 Amount Saved: $880 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 7 Mins: 30 Seconds: 20
