Thinking about quitting and scared

It is ironic that all the negative things we know about smoking;ie, lung cancer, heart problems, emphysema, and so forth doesn't scare us much. The addictive mind can come up with all manner of excuses to continue smoking that basically add up to it won't happen to me....other people have those problems. The fact remains that quitting is terrifying in spite of the fact that all the results of not lighting up are positive...a longer life, more money, better health. Addiction is a sly, cunning disease that flies in the face of common sense. So, Fitz, just do it and quit. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 232 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,653 Amount Saved: $1160 Life Gained: Days: 30 Hrs: 16 Mins: 25 Seconds: 11

I think I need slapped!

It's tough, ChickenS, quitting smoking isn't easy but it is doable. One of the biggest obstacles is junkie thinking. It will come back to haunt you many times for a long time so you need to get used to saying no now. It is well worth the effort to become smoke free. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 228 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,573 Amount Saved: $1140 Life Gained: Days: 30 Hrs: 3 Mins: 41 Seconds: 50

Mon renouncer e'tage

Such a lovely and enlightening post, N2K. Every "I believe" resonated with me. The one I have been thinking about for a few days was I could never enjoy smoking as I once did....I know too much. That is what I know in my soul when I have a moment of wanting one. It's a really nice feeling. Again, congrats....you are the bomb!
