Calling all February '06 Quitters!!!!

Hi All, I think it is a great idea for us newbies to start our own group because we can go through each stage of this together. Although reading posts from other quitters that are much further through their quit is very inspirational it is good to chat to people who are at the same stage as me. An idea for a name is 'NoMoreFixFromFeb06' BTW I am from Hull in the UK (Yorkshire) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/6/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 17 Amount Saved: 2.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 6 Mins: 8 Seconds: 3

1 whole year

Fantastic and well done - you should be so proud of yourself. I would also just like to say what an inspiration it is to read these posts while I am sat here suffering in 'silence'. My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/6/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 17 Amount Saved: 2.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 6 Mins: 3 Seconds: 24

Febuary Group?

If you mean the thread that was asking whether a group for February quitters should be established it is under 'introduce yourself'. As far as I know nothing has happened yet. Where is the 'Buddy List'

When you look at someone's message, there is a button called 'add to buddy list'. Is there a buddy list and if so where is it and how can you use it - any suggestions?? Calling all February '06 Quitters!!!!

Hi everyone, great to see you all still quitting - what a team! I am now into day 5 and will have to face the weekend when I usually smoke quite a lot more than in the week, but I do have a plan and I definitely will not smoke no matter what!! Anyway I just wanted to share something with the group. I go to an NHS (the national health service in UK) stop smoking group on a Thursday evening and one of the things we do is to get a CO2 reading of our breath each week. On weeks 1 and 2 my reading was 21 (heavy smoker) but last night it was only 5 (normal) and that is only after 4 days!! I am sharing this because the rest of you still in week 1 will have the same health benefit - well done everyone. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/6/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 49 Amount Saved: 10 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 18 Mins: 3 Seconds: 46

Does this make sense to you olbies?

Hi Stoppin, I agree that you cannot make this site your life. What I have found, even though I am still in the early stages of my quit, is that if you are on this site 24/7 then you end up thinking about giving up smoking all the time. So I think that once you have got over the initial obsession then it is good to visit only occasionally. But I also think that as we all have gained from others when we are/were new quitters, then we should still make the effort later on to visit in order to help others in the same way that we got help and inspiration ourselves. Anyway, will have to get on and get some work done :( My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/6/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 50 Amount Saved: 10 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 18 Mins: 22 Seconds: 2

TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT

Hi Elaine, Everyone likes their own comfort food I suppose but I like dried fruit and also pieces of veggies cut into sticks such as carrot, celery etc. and you can add a low fat dip as well if you like. Water and juices are also good for filling you up healthily. Keep focussed and good luck. congrats on starting BTW! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/6/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 44 Amount Saved: 7.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 16 Mins: 8 Seconds: 24

after tomorrow no more smokes for me!

Hi, I quit on Monday and what the others have said is good advice. Whatever you do DO NOT have any cigs or ashtrays - anywhere. The only other thing I did was to avoid places where I smoked, when at home this (for me) was the garage. I have been in there but feel 'the urge' everytime so I avoid it as much as I can now. I apperciate that this might not be practical for some though. Anyway good luck and always be positive no matter how much it is hurting. :)
