Hi Polly and congrats on getting this far! I am lucky in that no one in my family smokes so I cannot draw on my own experience. I wondered though if it is possible to spend less time in the house i.e. going out more often say to a non smoking friend or if it is practical to have at least 1 room that is designated as a non smoking room that you could retreat to (preferable with TV etc in it). I realise that this is not ideal as you are shutting yourself off from the rest of the family. I hope that you find a solution.

Hi and welcome to our non-smoking community. 4 days is a great achievement, you will find it a lot easier from now on as you are now here with your fellow quitters.
Hi Bean, I am also on the patch. The only thing I can add is to place the patch in a different place each day so that the skin does not become too irritated in one place and also to put it in places of lean tissue so that the nicotine is absorbed more easily (e.g. not on your butt).
At least being a late starter means that you have not screwed up your body as much as us long term smokers.

Hi Angela, I go along with all that has been said. What a rough time you have had! it's funny in a sad sort of way that it takes all of us so long to realise what we have been doing to ourselves until, for whatever reason, we suddenly 'see the light'. Still, we are all here now stopping this madness for ever. Keep in touch with the folk here - it could be the difference between life and death.
You have done fantastically well so far, I am in awe at 51 days.
