Strange feelings

When I first quit, I developed a taste of cooper on my tongue. I could never get an explanation for that either. Concerning not suffering anymore...please give it a few days. Day 3-5 are reported as the worst for most folks. It seems to me to be a simple matter of alternatives... 1) Suffer a little now to get through the first week or two, or 2) Suffer the rest of your life with COPD, etc. The dangers of smoking are just to vivid to not continue on with what you have started. Please do not throw in the towel. You and you alone would fail. Congrats' on quitting. Red Alert - Red Alert / Stats Parade Emergency

It appears no Stats Parade was posted yesterday. This cannot be. The Monday parade has been a tradition here since the inception of the site. Now, lets get to marching here and post. Did you know that 52 marchers would set a record? always quitting

Ditto to all above here. I agree with you on the frustration when others will not leave you along as you try and improve your life. Those that say those things are the worst at sticking to a plan...belive me. Well, it is time for you to say IT IS POSSIBLE! And, remember my favorite saying here in the daily quotes - Others have gone before you...you can too! Empty stomach is because you have dumped a someone whom you thought was a friend. Nothing is further from the truth. That monster will set right there and watch you or I kill ourselves and chalk up yet another one to his total. Cast it out of your life. You will be so proud. Congrats' on being here. Learn a lot so you can stick your smoky smelling tongue at them. Prior to this it stunk. Not now. Old Newbie

Get the mrs'es involved. Surely with what you have endured with the by-pass, she would be interested in quitting herself. As I glean at my Dangers of Smoking poster on the wall here...I look at heart disease. Let me quote - Arteriosclerosis is a condition responsible for most heart attacks. Plaque collecting in the coronary arteries narrows the vessels until eventually the oxygen supply to the heart is stopped. It goes on to say - Smoking of cigarettes accelerates this process! Enough said! Congratulations and let us help. New day!

A permanent quit is easy...if you work at it hard enough. What is hard enough you ask - You must decide that is. Those above me here gave you the formula for success. It is all on the left of this page. I am in your corner on this but you cannot throw any punches or throw in the towel. Lets go out there and beat the monster to a pulp. We can do this...I know it. I DID IT!

What's the big deal? I'll tell you what the big deal is...you had coping skills or you would not have walked away. Did you throw a bomb into the cigarette rack at the store? Too old to quit?

Sadly I beg to differ with you regarding you never having belonged to a group before. You belongs to one of the most confusing group on the planet. Yes, the smoking clan. It is a strange thing but most would tell you that they would like to quit. Yet, they continue even in the face of almost certain shorter life span. Also, I have known them to actually put off necessary things in life to buy those death sticks. Yes friend, you were in quite a strange group. Now, well to this one. Here you see instant results, you can prove that you have stickability, you save lots of money, your non-smoking friends and family want to be around you, etc. etc. Please forgive the double-negative...however, it just don't get no better than that. Learn, and maintain. I also am 62 and am a living example of success using things such as these tools here. new and on day 3

Having enjoyed untold hours reading articles and learning more and more, I can tell you of a study at Duke University wherein they determined that days 3-5 are the worst for you. Those who can make it through day 5 increase the odds tremendousily to stay quit. Do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This site is your friend...now use it to its maximum. Wow. I feel so great...

That 'WOW, I feel so great' would make a great song title. Wait a minute...did James Brown record 'Wow, I feel good!' Remember his words and his crazy antics when he sang that. Makes me want to get up and dance also. So, keep the faith...there is life after boyfriend. I would rather be smoke-free than in love anyway. When we are smoke friend opportunities open up that never existed before for us. You maintain...it is so worth it.
