Problem solved...I truly hope so. It just don't get no better than the big guy on your side at times like this.
One should enter into a new job with great confidence and excitment to go with it. You were beginning to beat up on yourself to much. Please remember that you are having a relapse just at the hardest part of the quit. Obviousily we all know the quitting is easy....the staying is hard. Day 3-5 has always been the worst time of it for most. Their is nothing magical about waiting another day to pull the trigger again. Pull it now. Get mad as you can at that monster tugging at your body and mind. Show out that it shall not hold you in bondage any longer.
Get rid of those smokes and lets get it on. I have you on my prayer list now also. You can do this...I know it. Not tomorrow - but today.

Yes dear one...we like to say you gotta' quit for ourselves and no one else.
Your situation is unique in that you and the entire family witnessed spouse, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law suffer (The copd is said to be one of the worst types of slow death when it occurs). All involved here have got to be motivated to stop using tobacco, if you/they are, and never touch that again.
Does your dad smoke?
Well, God bless you and your entire family. You deserve it.

It appears the monster won the first couple of rounds of this fight. Now, come out swinging at the bell and do not stop. Hit it with left and right jabs, up-cuts, sidewinders, haymakers,etc.. When you are finished with all that, stomp him into the mat with all you have. Kill it once and for all and take pride in doing it.
Well, how about it champ...you ready.......

If I can be so bold...
After a 6 day quit, it is still to early to socialize with those who still smoke. I frankly would not go see my parents (if they still were alive), until I had a reasonable hold on my addiction.
Those above me speak the truth. Coping skills, watching where you go, reading, learning, etc. is the formula for success.
I am only disappointed in you if you continue to smoke again. Stop it and stop it now. You can do it...I know it.

I think I would rather have a knee replacement than to ever smoke again...hey, right!
In my numerous extended stays in the hospital, prior to quitting, I had no problem at all staying smober. #1 - I did not have access to tobacco, and #2 - I could have smoked anyway so why fret over it.
That will be a good time to really purge your system. I can also assure you that your orthopod will tell you that smoking inhibits the healing process.
See, the advantages just keep on coming.
Good luck and congrats'

Hey, maybe the daughter will get near you now that you will be smokefree. I can still remember how it was to smell like a septic tank.
Talk about gifts...look what you gave your daughter - The most precious gift of all, your extended life in hers.
Stay proud and make her proud ongoing also.

Hey, whats the big deal??????????
I tell you what is...you and your quit are. It is tolerable of intolerable right between your ears. The only reason God gave us this brain is so we could use it. Do it by learning all you can. When you get a craving flung on your, look at a pic of the kids if away from home. They deserve a smoke-free mom and you can provide that individual.
Congrats' and lets do it together.

Quitting is easy...if you work at it hard enough.
Develop distractions...also called coping skills. I liked the hard candy and the deep breathing. There are many available.

It is possible that you are seeing benefits already. The healing process begins immediately and continues for the rest of your life. Studies have shown that if you can maintain for 1 year, you will have set aside one half of the damage already done. Then, 50% the next year and so on. Thus, if you could maintain just 3 years, you would have reversed the damage by 87.5%. That should be encouraging indeed.
I must tell you that I wonder if you have considered the damage to the children with second handed smoke. While they sleep peacefully, you are exposing them to a killer as surely as if it were a gun.
Congrats' and lets do this this time.
