Charlie Girl & Mo, Congrats' on making the command decision to eventually die a less tramatic death. COPD is no cake walk for sure. Remember, every year you repair the damage of smoking by 50%. Hence, 1 year - 50% repaired, 2 years - 75% repaired, 3 year - 87 1/2% and so on. With that pronogis, we must consider staying smober. I offer you mega-ditto's for all the powerful posting above me here. Let's do this thing...others have - you can too. Having a rough time.

All of that desperation above can be summed up in a few words...you are an addict. The monster senses you are trying to kill it by casting aside the nicotine. He has only a few chances to get you back in his fold of fools. Don't let him do it to you. You be the one to put the monkey on the monster's back...not the other way around. If you must give in...do it. No one can control that urge except you. I'm thinking you are a doer and not a relapser. Show us just how strong you are. I am amazed that we all paid such prices for smokes just to have a more miserable death. Go figure. A Far To Complacent Attitude Toward Quitting.....

As I peruse the thread headings here of late I see far to many of them that speak of... I am trying again... or something similiar. There is nothing concerning the quit that can be taken in a light vein. Oh, do not get me wrong, I and others here will support you if it is your 1,000th time to restart. I just want you all to take this adventure more seriously than I think some are. This is my xx time to quit, Back again, Remember me, etc... When a person gets here, it is to far into it to take it any other way but dead serious. I have read tens-of-thousands of posting on this site since I came here in Jan, 2002. I can tell you without hesitation, lack of preparation is the most reason folks fail at this. Why would someone subject themselves to the agony of quitting and not apply themselves to learn all they can about the dangers of smoking? This morning a cable news program had a piece on if a person should take a course on quitting prior to pulling the trigger. They said no. I say bull hockey. Knowledge is power. I was in a medical program about quitting for a month prior to starting. My medical program agreed to pay for the NRT (patches) for 12 weeks if we successful completed the sessions. It had me literally going mad to jump in and give it a try. It worked...I can tell you that 1,603 days later my pre-learning was paramount in my effort. Well then, now that I have shared all the useless information above, why don't we all make a pledge to redouble our effort to increase our knowledge and learn something new everyday about the evils of that junk. Thanks...Lindsey My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/10/2001 Smoke-Free Days: 1603 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 96,218 Amount Saved: $16030 Life Gained: Days: 330 Hrs: 21 Mins: 25 Seconds: 59

HELP...I smoked today...after 2 months of quit...am I done????

Only you can answer WHY I DID IT. Does it really matter though? So what if the cravings/withdrawals are back for a short while. You had the tenacity to withstand it before. As a remembrance of your relapsing...I hope you throw up when you start over...or have you already started? Enough said. It seems as though I have little compassion for you. Wrong, I frankly feel a lot of concern for you and want you to get this done. Just remember, none of us are going to get out of this life alive. I just hope I can do so now without drowning in my own body fluids (copd). How about you? Let do this thing...others have before you and you can too! A Far To Complacent Attitude Toward Quitting.....

Well then...if my thread made even one person rethink how they are going to handle moving forward, then I consider this a success. Please understand I get no satifaction out of seeing someone fail. It actually hurts because I feel the site, you and I could have done more. However, ones quit is ones quit. We can only hold hands. I will leave this alone now... Look at the numbers.........

WOW, the amount of folks here approaching real milestones is just great. For those of us who have paid the price my sticking around, this is pay back in spades. Oh, it does not matter if you or I had any direct part of ones success, what matters is something sparked a real desire for them to cast aside that junk. I am so very proud of each and every one of us. Lindsey PS - Several with one year deserve ballons.
