You may have read about the gentleman who took 8 hostages in an attempt to rob a Bank of America in Exeter, CA. 7 were either released or escaped. The last one was in real danger and the melee continued for 12 hours.
Finally the bad guy could not take it anymore and demanded cigarettes. This was the golden opportunity for the SWAT folks. When they delivered the smokes, the 8th hostage was able to get away.
Hence -
Advantage - If you are in danger and the suspect wants a smoke bad enough, it may save your life.
Disadvantage - If you are not willing to be arrested, do not get a craving flung on you so bad that you lose your logic.
End of story.

I certainly still wish I could have a puff from time to time. However, time has shown me that that is not possible. I simply laugh it off and go on with my smoke-free life.
I do believe I am only one cigarette away from smoking 3 packs a day. Hence, never, never even one.
Remember, your 8 days equal my accomplishment. It is still one day at a time sweet Jesus. I have just done this about 1595 times more than you. Still...one day at a time X number of days = success.
Keep it up.

B-Fly,
Answer: Bad people rob banks because that is where the money is usually kept.
And yes, only non-smokers should become engaged with law enforcement.

Well then...we do know that you can quit, don't we.
With that said, develop coping skills for the next craving that might get flung on you. May I ask if the meeting with friends was a social doings or what. If so, no one needs to remind you about that in the future. I found to keep a distance from any smokers during the first 60 days was helpful. Certainly you can not completely isolate yourself. However, you can limit your exposure to the second hand smoke.
I am proud of you for both your success and your reloading to quit again. I show the 24th as tomorrow...great date sounds like to me.
Do it now child...we know you can...do you?

It sounds like deep breathing to me might help here. The patch is a good tool but not a cure all. I used the 3 levels for a total of 12 weeks and weathered the storm. You can too!

I am so encouraged by the number of new and maintaining folks we have on the site now. See, there is strength in numbers. The more of us who participate here, the more we prosper in our efforts to cast aside that junk.
Did you know the infamous R J Reynolds and his only son(huge tobacco magnates)both died of lung cancer? It just seems fitting somehow.

I read recently that it takes approximately 30 days to develop a good habit...and only 1 day to break it. I wish you well.

You are brave indeed. After such a short duration, I would meet them in a common area (restaurant, etc). I would never have them smoking in my home...not at 3 days quit or ever.
I trust and hope you weathered this OK. By the time I read it it was already past.
Do not give in. The smokers will encourage you to smoke because you are making them look like second class citizens...which they are now in the eyes of the non-smokers.
I hope my congrats' is warrantied.

Whoa...did not read your newer posting.
I am so proud of you and your friends for working with you on this. I hope they all were terribly inconvienced by having to smoke out side. Where did they put the butts. Remove all reminders.
Yes, my congrats' was in order. Excuse me while I take my foot out of my mouth.
