Use the losses and failures of the past as a reason for action, not inaction.

What works for me is looking a what "worked", and building on that, rather than what didn't work

Hi Shari,
It took a little longer, since I was caregiving, and depleted, but I'm as "normal" as I can be.  You're not off topic, since support is the key ingredient of this forum!

If I could be off-topic, I found a free online course programme, so I could satisfy my intellectual side.  A course i wanted is about to be cancelled, so it might help.  However, I think the Ivy league(free courses) curriculum might not be what I could use at this time.  I can't mention the link, since the forum doesn't allow members to risk viruses, etc.

On Davit's topic, it was easy to fight since I was "focused", but my energy was depleted since I was dealing with a hospital bureaucracy, my immune system.

The only limits are, as always, those of vision.

It is easier to fight when there is no other choice. Look at how many people put up with anxiety till the symptoms get unbearable. Even then, some still choose the easy way out.
To win first you really have to want too and you have to have a reason. Even then it can be such a chore.
Life is not easy for some of us so when you find it getting tough just remember, you are not alone.

Hugs4U,

I'm sorry to go off topic on your wonderful, Quote of the Day thread, but I wanted to ask how you are feeling now.  I've been praying for you all summer to get over the cold/ragweed allergy that you had.  I wonder if your 100% now?

Shari

Sharing daily common struggles on posts, and the use of thought records, supporting my personal programme, as well as core beliefs, it helpful

Hi Hugs,

Glad to hear you continue to use the resources available to you on the site!  What have you found particularly helpful?  Most challenging?

You cannot always control what goes on outside. But you can always control what goes on inside.

Sometimes it feels like there's a broken record in my head, but I find I can get over that with some of the technques in the toolbox

Sometimes failures are just that. Failures. If I try something I may not be able to do anymore there is a good chance of failure. A lot of failures can be worked around but some like climbing a ladder or kneeling on my artificial knees are going to be failures. Putting steps on the tractor so I can get on it is a way around a failure as is using a cordless drill for a screwdriver. As is using a neighbour to do my heavy lifting. This falls under the heading "trading".  Yesterday he did something for me that I would have needed a ladder for and today I have a chore for him that I can do with a minimum of difficulty. In other times people had family for this. I have no family so I trade. Sunny has family and they on their visit were a great help to her.
The garden is full of weeds since we have not been able to keep up. I don't look at this as a failure but as green manure. Others would see it as a failure. As long as the tiller on the tractor continues to work I can bury them and their offspring. This entails putting the tiller back on the tractor and actually getting up on it. It may include going to town for fuel too. All this can lead to depression because of the time factor.
