The key to weight loss...

Heres what Ive learned over the years. 1- Diet Soda is garbage. Don't be fooled by the stats. The acids and other chemicals found in diet soda not only keep you from loosing weight but also weaken your bones. Did you know cola is what they use to clean bloodstains off the highway? Its true! 2. Limit and choose your carbs wisely- Keep to small amounts of whole wheat/ whole grain crabs. They break down slower and with excercise and be tuned into protein instead of fat. 3. Eat 5 small meals a day instead of 3 regular meals. Starving yourself is never the awnser. Eat often and eat light with smaller portions. Fruit is good, but be carefull about eating too many fruits with high amounts of sugar liek peaches or pineapple. 4. Remeber you already have much to be proud of. You are no longer keeping yourself at risk for lung disease or lung cancer. 10-15 lbs is a fair trade for not skoking anymore. Once you feel confident that the smoking is over, then work at loosing weight and bettering yourself.

I am new

Welcome. I have similar thoughts but they are getting less frequent. Perhaps since im still ont he patch its controlling it? Either way non smoking will become a way of life just as smoking did. It just takes time. By the way- how did those few drags taste? Like crap I bet!

The key to weight loss...

Diet Soda = Poison. Any doctor will tell you that even regular soda is better for you. If you really love soda have 1 or 2 cans a week as a treat. As far as artificial sweeteners, those are evil too. I believe the least evil one is splenda. However they all contain aspertame, something that barely got approved by the FDA that is not good for your body. Stick to mainly drinking water. Tea Tree Chewing Sticks

For all my oral fixation people... They sell theese at Whole Foods or Wil Oats ect... they are little toothpick size chewing Sticks with a naturaul menthol in them. They are great to chew on and give your gums a naturaul little buzz/ tingle without the aid of any chemicals. Since they are all naturual they do no harm. Just a little suggestion.

Is it like alcoholism ?

Not the chemical addiction, the mental part. Wiull I always want to smoke, feel the desire, similar to an achoholic? Now just a disclaimer, I know alcoholism is far worse and im not trying to say they're the same thing, however I see people on here who quit for years and then came back. Will there forever be a little devil on my shoulder telling me to smoke? Is it like alcoholism ?

Lolo- im with you, we've both quit about the same time. To everyone else thanks for your kind words. I've temporarily also giveen up alcohol because I know it will make me want to smoke. Im on day 8 now and its getting better. Ive gotten over quite a bit of the conditioning. Still after every meal I still think its time for a smoke for a split second before I realize, DUH you dont smoke. Pure Hell

You go Misha! You can do it. If your strong enough to raise children your strong enough not to smoke. I swear by theese things I got called "Tea Tree Chewing Sticks" I bought them at Wild Oats (all naturaul grocery place) They are toothpicks coated with this naturaul opil thats like a strong menthol. They actually give you a small mthol type buzz in your gums/mouth so its very similar to a cigarette but not bad for you. Mark, hang in there. It gets easier, barley but ever so slightly! I also hate the patch, but its the onyl thing thats ever made quitting even seem like a possibility.Think of a nice reward and work hard towards it.
